In the antiquity age I always go with the ones that give +2 sight for scouts, and the +1 expansionist attribute point, so I can push out settlers faster.

In the following ages there are many good choices and I’m still experimenting to see which works best for me.

Juris Civilis - extra social policy

I honestly think the attribute point ones are generally the best, but I love this memento even if I'm chaining celebrations from the beginning of the age.

I always have Imago Mundi on in antiquity, and usually again in exploration because I forget to switch

I usually avoid the extra social policy one as sometimes i find either there are no available policies that are useful, or there are no extra ones available.

The Better Memento Editor mod was updated last month to show the memento screen to prevent us forgetting to change them.

I second the use of that mod, not only does it remind you to change them, you can also save your favorites so you're not hunting them down during the switches.

I used to take Imago Mundi all the time, but now the +1 movement for scouts, settlers and traders is much more useful.
It allows my scouts to move 2 tiles and still set up a Lookout for extra sight line, so that I can scout virtually the same area I could with Imago, and in addition can get a settler out to grab any really good spot my scouts found much faster.
- and on the other side, faster scouts can run away from hostile IP warriors, slingers, et al before they get finished off.

One does not exclude the other !

I for one go Imago Mundi (+2 sight to scouts) + Merchant's saddle (+1 movement to scouts settlers and traders) together in antiquity always !

Then at explo I usually change to Lotus Blossom (+4% science and culture of your gold income) and The Analects (+1 science from specialists), but that last one is Confucius lvl 9 memento I think, so not everyone has that.

I sometimes leave those last 2 in modern too, but depending on the game flow, I might change them

I must admit I've not thought of the +1 expansionist attribute point in antiquity... make a lot of sense, especially in games that are expected to be pacifist... the added production to settlers I've always found to come too late in games, but that would make it just right for the timing

In Ancient and Exploration, I also do the Merchant's Saddle for the movement bonuses and Wampum Belt as I frequently befriend the city states. In Modern I switch it up the saddle to the Lotus Blossom as I've usually uncovered the map and have most of my settlements in place at that point in the game.

I don’t see any love for Bifocals here. +50 Influence every time you complete a mastery helps me out a ton in befriending IPs.

Hello Civ Fans,

I will usually always go Note G for long term production to the Capital. Also like the Cultural attribute to get a jump on 10-15 % production on building Wonders combined with my Pantheon of building wonders too if Stone Circles is already taken which seems to be the go to for the AI since the last update. Extra moves for scouts and settlers is also great for early game.

Brew God

Shisa Necklace + Wampum Belt.

To be honest, while some mementos seem to be a no-brainer (like attrtibute points), I still don't get the idea behind some of the other mementos.

For example, Voltaire's Edits provides +50 culture when you spend a Cultural Attribute Point and is unlocked on Level 5 of Friedrich, Baroque. I always assumed that the Level 5 mementos are quite powerful, but I don't see much value in this. Is this supposed to be used in combination with the memento granting an attribute point for an initial boost to culture? This may seem useful at the start of antiquity but seems to be rather weak later on.

The same applies to all the other +yields whend spending an attribute point. They seem to provide a very low yield in view of the number of attribute points you are expected to get in any age, yet they all require level 5 of a specific leader.

Or consider Bifocals (Franklin, Level 2, +50 influence after researching a civic or tech mastery) in view of Globus Cruciger (Charlemagne, Level 5, +50 influence when spending a dipomativ attribute point). Here the Level 2 Bifocals seem to be more powerful than the Level 5 Globus Cruciger, since you can get a lot more masteries than attribute points. So I don't get why those momentos are level 5, or do I miss something here?

I don't mind that some mementos are more useful than others, but shouldn't the higher level ones be stronger in general?

I don’t think level 5 or 9 is supposed to be particularly more powerful.

The benefit of the bonus with attribute points seems to be when you are
1. starting with one of those in Memento format
2. entering a new age and spending your legacy on attributes

They probably could be buffed though (say 50 per age at least)
