I'm going to be buying the parts for a new PC soon (that will be my first build). What brands of PSUs are good quality? My system's power demands aren't going to be too high, but I would like to be confident that the PSU is a decent quality one, especially considering the electricity in my area can be quite dodgy at times.

I personally like PCP&C. Not only is their build and component quality superb, they are usually one of the most efficient and quiet PSUs. And now that they have been acquired by OCZ, it shouldn't be as difficult to purchase them in countries other than the US anymore.

You can't really go by brand, most PSU brands have different manufactures for different models.

As Zelig said many PSU are rebranded. Check http://www.jonnyguru.com. He will tell you who made it. What its made of. Most importantly how well it produces a given voltage under various load conditions.

As far as brands go, the same company can make a good quality PSU and a piece of crap. Even within the same line. For ex. their 850 w workes great but theiw 100 w is a failure.

One brand that I know of that is constantly lauded is Corsair, other than that, like Zelig said, the 'manufacturers' are really rebranders. You need to look at reviews for the PSU to get some idea of its performance. HardOCP is a good place to start since they torture the PSU's like no one else, and their reviews will pretty definitively tell you how good the PSU is.
