What could be the problem?

I have a problem with my pc. Sometimes the screen does not show anything at all, although the computer is on. At other times it is normal. The screen behaves as if the computer is off at those other times. I will get the computer to the repair shop, just wondering if anyone had this sort of problem and knows what is causing it. Ty

Maybe it's going into sleep mode? How do you usually resolve the issue - do you have to reboot?

Perhaps its going into sleep mode and having trouble waking up. I think some processors cause that.

I think that its the cpu as well. I dont do anything at all differently the times that it works ok. Although i did notice that the computer froze two times before i had the problem. Now i can't get the screen to show anything

Perhaps a cable is loose? It may simply be the cable to the GPU being loose, thus causing there to be no image at times. Might as well check that all the cables are secure before taking it in to the shop. External as well as internal - could be something to do with the cable to the monitor.

If it's not a loose cable, it may well be something worth taking it in to the shop for. My guess would be it's something to do with the GPU. But it really could be any number of things.

A power supply that is not working properly, or not large enough for the power needs of your system, can sometimes cause weird and difficult to track down problems.

Unfortunately it was a burned motherboard= game over. I had to buy a new cpu...
