The reason I ask here (never posted here in OT before) is because obviously there are a lot of historically interested people here, many of whom I have always assumed study history at a college somewhere...or maybe just read a lot of books and/or watch a lot of history channel.
Anyway, as for Rome. It is a pretty decent TV show in my opinion, because I think the setting is interesting and because I do like how they don't overly romanticize the ancient world. A complaint though, one that I never thought I would say about any show considering I do not have a family and I am a young-ish male (23) is that there is too much sex in it.
There, I said it.
Anyway, on to my actual question: how historically accurate is this show? Obviously I realize almost all of the interpersonal plot is certainly made-up, but I am talking about the general historical claims of the show. Are there any nuggets of truth, in the whole show, anywhere?
