When you say Civilization 4 Gandhi is the First person to come to mind. He's sorta, the "symbol" if you will, for the game. So let's ask the question, what do you think of Gandhi, come to think of it he really isn't that good, or is he?

How he plays in-game? How he looks? How the AI uses him? His traits, uniques, etc?

Basically is this a game facet element, an overall rating of his playability for the human, how the AI does with him, or just whether we like him or not...

Edit: I do not think of him as anything special alongside the other civ leaders to be fair ;).

the first leader who i think of when thinking civ 4 is Mansa Musa.

I think more Julius, Alex or Liz myself.

Gandhi is good the UU is excellent and you can't go wrong with spi/phi.

I don't think I've ever actually played against Gandhi, but playing against him, he always seems to be a pretty good tech monger. Although he can be a bit weak, militarily. But he is always up near the top, I find.

Best UU in the game.

Not so good a UB. +2 Happiness is good, but in most games I never build Jails.

Yeah in most games you don't build jails. But as the Indians you build Mausoleums all the time, right?

Who would pass up on +2 :)?

I'd say Gandhi is one of the best. I'm over Financial. I think it restricts you into certain strategies like cottage spam and specific civics - which work and work very well mind you - but are boring.

One of the things I like about Civ IV is that they did a much better job balancing traits. In III, scientific was way overpowered, as was agri and, to a lesser extent, industrious and commercial.

In IV, the worst is probably protective, but a lot of those leaders are in civs with really good UU's or UB's and protective is almost like having multiple UU's in the industrial era, anyway, since all gunpowder units start out with drill 1/CG 1.

I think Gandhi is a fine generalized pic for a civ.

Jails are an instant source of EP and an espionage multiplier...if you expanded to be large getting these in #'s will keep you at tech parity almost no matter what else you do...

I consider him really good.

Arguably the best UU. Undoubtedly the most consistently useful UU. Although Gandhi doesn't really have traits that do much to assist swift early development, the Fast Worker certainly helps.

Solid UB. Weaker than the Ball Court or Hammam imo due to its late arrival, but those two are near the best of the lot.

Strong traits, with good synergy. Spiritual makes it easier to abuse Philosophical via FE with bursts of Caste/Pacifism for research, mixed with Slavery/OR/Theo for production., not to mention the chance to use more specialised civics for short periods without anarchy.

I voted Good. Nothing gamebreaking and no guaranteed military advantage... but PHI is the most reliable tool to ensure an ability to keep up tech-wise while SPI is a great diplomatic tool and can do quite a bit for one's economy and military if one bothers with the right amount of micromanagement.
The starting techs are very solid, and what the UU lacks in ability to change the course of games it makes up with reliability; I'm lukewarm about the UB though. For a straightforward happiness boost, it comes rather late which makes it mediocre although I like a heavy emphasis on espionage with PHI leaders.

For a One City Challange, he's one of the contenders for the top spot.

I think he's really solid to play, however I've only gotten one good start with him. Bad luck I guess... The same happens when I try to play De Gaulle

I think of Montezuma cos his music was the opening music on Civ II.

Btw, I voted "good". His UU is my favourite (cos I'm one of those boring builder/perfectionist players). He suits my natural style of play of never going to war. The down side of this is that I never get a spectacular score.
