I love Japan and her accomplishments, although the culture I find is still one of the hardest to grasp. I've been there a bunch and can say the people are very friendly and welcoming, albeit a bit reserved in personal matters.

I hate anima though...sorry.

This is rare and I have never seen it in person. They aren't even supposed to be around anymore. They were probably in areas with lots of porn shops, massage parlors, and low level hostess bars. There are tons of vending machines everywhere, but most of them sell beverages.

Yes. Japanese law classifies used panties as second-hand goods and you need a special license to sell them.

Japanese technology and culture is great. Love manga, but a lot of anime is poorly made though IMO.

Mang aa and anime doesn't excite me (it bores me) but they have some amazing things there. In particular, the Bullet Train and crazy, suicidal people what the whole world could benefit from thinking about.

I think there is a lot more to Japan than this OP suggests, and Americans have a warped understanding of the place.
