What do you think of the Leaders?

They should have just gone for Hojo Masako for a female Japanese leader. The nun shogun was badass and better attested historically (even if there are some records of Himiko existing).

Counterpoints:
- Masa's kid is not an established name internationally, nor someone with great renown in Japan
- Himiko has a connection with the outside world, Masa's kid does not.
- The artist team would get hammered to make a bald woman look presentable and likable to the audience (how many people do you think have experience with that sort of thing in 2D or 3D?)
- Himiko does figure in Meiji period mythology much more heavily than the likes of Masa's kid.
- Houjou already got one of their people in the last Civ, Himiko is a new face outside of Vita's release of CivRev2 which practically no one present had played.
...

It's an absurd hill to choose to die upon.

Not really. I agree with Morningcalm that the Nun Shogun would have been a far more interesting choice than a semi-mythical witch-queen from Japanese prehistory.

Himiko was a hero in Civ6 NFP, which means Hojo Masako would be more of a new face than Himiko, who has been in Civ twice.

Franklin - A
Tubman - A

My only complaint is that America should not have two leaders upon release. You are NOT that historically important. :)

But IF the Americans were to have two leaders, and both of them leaders of a civil movement rather than presidents, I can't think of two better choices than Franklin and Tubman.

Strongly agree that America's about on the bottom of the list of civs needing two leaders. I would have preferred to see Tubman instead of Franklin, especially after he inherited my most hated Hidden Agenda as his agenda.

India, China and France top my list, in that order. So I'm fairly pleased that France already has two leaders in Napoleon and Charlemagne.

a second Chinese or Indian leader would be welcome around the first expansion pack (as long as we dodge Gandhi again :-) )

Assyria, Egypt, and not-Achaemenid Persia for me. :p (Surprisingly not Phoenicia...though I wouldn't say no to Dido and Hannibal or Hannibal with General and Shophet personae.)

Wait Charlemagne isn't German? :mischief:
