There was an interesting thread at the 2k forums about what would players wanted the most from the next patch.

There are interesting options, such as having a lo-end version of Civ 5 for people playing with their moms computer and developing a 64 bit version.

But the end results were to fix the Large map crashes followed by AI on diplomacy and enhancing multiplayer.

One option that is missing is to improve the mechanics of the game, such as Technology, Happiness, Gold and Social Policies. I'd vote for that one myself.

Yup, I agree that the basic mechanics need the most work. I'll not return to CiV before that has been fixed or at least improved.

AI that accepts it's AI, not a human.

    Failing that, more reasonable diplomacy.

    Agreed, fix the basics first.

From threw on, options to make the game run lighter and more smooth would be great. From there, everything that makes balance a lot better would be welcome. Things like making buildings actually worth being build, improving tile yields, making diplomacy about foreign relations... Anything like that.

Not even just low end, but just be efficient. I just bought a new computer ("desktop replacement" laptop, core i7, average video card), and I wouldn't say it's slow, but my computer fan is chugging, and every now and by mid-game it's up to about 15-30 seconds of lag between turns. It's not unplayable, but on a brand new computer, it should be much better than that.

I'd also like multiplayer, not because I play it, because it should be there and will shut up a lot of people on this board who continually complain about it.

Other than that, I'd be happy with improved AI and minor tweaks to diplomacy to make it not always degenerate into a world war (I want to have to work to maintain peace, and I want there to be a benefit towards peace, and I don't want friendliness with an AI to be thrown away for completely random reasons)

I'd like to see an option to display the map as tiled sprites (though water can still use shaders). It would look nearly identical and should be a hell of a lot faster. It'll never happen though

I am a simple man. I just want these two little bitty easy items:

    1. Ping
    2. Map Labeling

And I will be happy. :)

I don't get this. I play on a laptop, and in another thread I was told my video card is well below minimum specs... and since the patch, it's about a maximum 15 seconds between turns in the modern era.

I'm also yet to experience a world war I didn't trigger myself either. *shrugs*

I'm a big fan of a lo-end option. Tactical view (or whatever is called) was a really good idea.. it's kind of a drag they didn't carry that idea forwards. I'd love to take Civ 5 to lesser computers (work computers for examples) and then taken it back to my main computer (it works with Steam, how hard could it be?).

But yeah, I'm still sticking to improving the basics of the game, mainly because that's the only part in which Civ 5 is Civ 5.

I don't play multi and doubt I'll ever try it more than once, but even I have to agree that it's time to fix the damn game for multiplayer fans. That and the bugs.

First, they actually should create a multiplayer lobby in order to fix it. Because right now they got some piece of '' notepad-list-thing'' of games split up by time zones and what not.

I could use some copy/paste tricks from an earlier thread but i guess it might be easier for anyone curious to simply click on this Link where you can read a lot more suggestions by others too!

These are the minimal "patching" features that should be done much sooner than later, AFAIC.
And of course, FIraXing as many bugs (if not all!) as possible including the beloved MP.

    Keep improving diplomacy

Improve naval AI. The AI is getting better at naval ops, but it leaves too many units unprotected. It needs more escorts.

Improve performance. Stop units from moving around unnecessarily, especially city state units.

Do something about AI spamming cities wherever there is an open tile with a resource. I would love to see a distance from capital penalty.

The game's getting a lot better, with a couple mods I'm having fun.

Alliance possibility with Shared Victory.. and modification of the AI to use it (and still shoot for winning)

Nerf Puppets (at least no Culture to the Policies)

And minimum time between gifts to a city state (~20 turns)

And the DLL so modders can start getting some good concepts

    Bugs

Kinda doubt they can "fix" the game to my requirements, mostly because it'd mean starting from scratch on so many systems.

    - Lose 1UPT or create a separate sub-game where you fight your battles tactically a la Master of Orion 1 & 2. Maybe leave a check-box as an option for "Do you want the 1UPT version or do you want the version that lets you stack?"

    - Rejigger all the other stuff that was altered to make 1UPT work.

    - Allow stacking. Allow optional rules for some kind of stacking penalty. having to pay the army gold per year, supply lines, morale hits, I dunno.

    - Fix the AI so that it's not psychotic and actually has distinct character per leader.

    - Revise some of the civs' unique stuff so that they're actually all useful and competitive.

    - UI fixes like ALLOWING ME TO END THE DAMN TURN WHEN I BLOODY WELL PLEASE without having to click through 15 notifications and choices and such.

    - Add a proper world map with proper start locations that do NOT require the use of a mod.

Basically, go back to the drawing board and try again, unfortunately.

    How about:

Mousing over a worker will show what it's working on and how many turns to complete.

That would make me very happy.

    Cheers.
