what does the "utopia" wonder do?

nope. build it & you win.

You think it could do something cool, like have 70 virgins appear in your capital - adding +5 happiness (each) for your civilization - when you hit the "just...one...more...turn" button after you win the game.

Basically you and a select group of eliteist citizens build a huge dome like walled off paradise, and then go and live inside it as everyone else in the world is left to die on the nuclear armageddon that is destined to be the result of the rest of the world.

You Win!

I wonder what this utopia project is.

That's basically what I play for anyway. I always try to elevate my civ to a utopia...now the game is going to certify when that happens, eh? Interesting.

Well, that's better than farming culture from three cities for the whole game...I hope.

I like how they left the defenition of Utopia open. Is it achieved with religious theocracy? Or based on rationalism? Is it based on freedom and equality or controlled by the state? You could basically build the Distopia Project if you wanted to.

It is definitely better than the old way. I really hated the cultural victory in Civ IV. Especially losing to it out of nowhere!

After experiencing that... I usually just disabled that victory in my games.

Utopia should give you an unlimeted Golden age if you win cultural victory and chooses to continue in play.

If winning the game isn't enough, I'd bet it gives you supplies of new luxury resources, like Togas, and Smugness.

I guess that depends on which 5 (or 6?) of the policies you max out in. Wouldn't it be easier to win with tradition and honor since they're available right away?
