What does world age do?

So what does the world age option in game setup do? Is there any difference between 3, 4 and 5 million year old planets?

Usually affects the distribution of hills and mountains. Young Earth has less hills, old has more.

I think it's the other way around. Young earth has more mountains and hills (because of less time given for erosion) and old earth has less mountains and hills (due to more erosion).

Either way, it changes how hilly the land is.
