There are still 4 game modes to be revealed, we don't know much about them other than that one may be related to trade if the leak is certain. The fact is that game modes can be a fun way to add flavor to the game, even though personal tastes vary between historical, fantastic or Sci-fi modes.
I did this poll to know what people are interested in receiving in future DLCs. I have included the most varied options so that people of different tastes can give their opinions.
Feel free to suggest things that are not on the list.

I think some kind of nod to corporations and something around vassal states or civil war would please the most people. Corporations really just being a byword for late game economic play centering on control of trade and resources. It comes up constantly. I do think the core model of control specific resources->profit would bring huge amounts of action to the late game, especially if it's something like "hey ally of 3000 years. I see your heartland is full of cattle and salt. Unfortunately, the needs of our McMeier's Fast Food franchises outweigh the needs of diplomacy"

Well, it would certainly make me happy.

I’d love to see some sort of “corporations” mechanic, that covers everything from Medieval Guilds, to Colonial Trading Companies to modern MNCs. But I don’t know how it would work. I don’t like the idea of companies spreading like Religions. I also don’t like the idea of monopolising a resource being part of the mechanics - companies are really not about monopolies. So, yeah, corporations. Love it. Know idea what they do. But love it.

Other than corporations, I’d like to see game modes that make managing your economy and or citizens harder and or more interesting. I could see something like Vassals or Colonies fitting in there (although, mostly I wish we just had “vassals” in the sense that you could have like a “class” of Cities that don’t require micro and are distinct from core cities - but like how in HK you should be able to fold new territories into the area of existing cities).

A “more barbs” mode would be cool, perhaps letting you interact with barbs like they’re city states.

A “military” mode that makes the military part of the game more involved.

If we’re talking total wish list, I’d love to see something that introduces more Steam Punk / Diesel Punk. I’d likewise be happy with something that does more with AI, so long as it doesn’t just default into Off-Brand Skynet (would that be “SidNet”, or maybe “ED-209”?).

I really don’t know. I can’t really be all that bothered speculating what the next four (or five?) game modes will be. I guess maybe a military one, something called internally “Alternate Economy”, and probably something to do with corporations somewhere. Frankly, I’m fairly okay with what we’ve got so far, and expect I’ll like the next game modes more or less, whatever they are.

Honestly, I would love to see every single one of the 'historical' modes added. But chief among them would be corporations, global economy, vassals/colonies, and ideology. Diseases is another close one.

I'm not intrinsically against sci-fi or fantasy modes to spice up the game from time to time - but my general feeling right now is simply that playing a standard historical game of Civ VI just doesn't feel like a fully fleshed out experience. The late game is too tedious, and too repetitive from one game to another, due to lack of late game mechanics that spice up gameplay. There are just simply too few descions to be made late game, and it becomes a matter of just spamming next turn to win.

    I voted for:
Corporations/guilds- because it would be nice if they made a comeback and they could tie in to different victory conditions.
Cultural Identity- This could really just be a background game mode where every citizen has their own ethnicity/cultural identity and would modify tourism based on the different groups of people living in cities.
Pests and Diseases-More variations on natural disasters would be fun, as long as they aren't over the top like comets. Plus you would think these cities need hospital buildings.
Religious reforms- I don't expect it but it would be nice if a game mode reworked the way Great Prophets worked and maybe you could have the chance at reforming a religion even after all religions are founded.

I think it would be nice if the Civs that didn't found a religion initially got the opportunity later to reform whatever relegion was spread to them and make it their own, replacing founder belief with a reformer belief, but keeping the follower belief. Basically after the church reformation civic, you could finally earn your own prophet and splinter off as your own religion.

This would let everyone get a religion, just the reformers only get theirs much later and will have to compete with more established faiths. It also means even if you steamrolled all the religions on your continent early, a new faith can still pop up you will need to deal with.

The biggest problem with an idea like this, is that the religious conversion and spreading is not very exciting at all right now. I would really like to see an overall buff to passive religious spread, and boost religious pressure from trade routes. Religions should spread a bit more organic in my opinion. Religious units also shouldn't have charges at all, and they could have a full real promotion tree like military units. That would definitely solve the tediousness of moving units from your cities over and over again.

Yes that's exactly what I meant.
Also I'm sure they would need to pick a new worship building. A good excuse to add more worship building types.

I voted for corporations/guilds, anything that improves the trading system would be good. Global markets with economic crises would also be welcome.
My second favorite is ideology with revolutions, because this would be a good way to improve the boring late game.
Something that improves the religious system would also be very cool, it could be reforms or religious orders.
Finally, I voted for pests and diseases, it would be interesting to have an epidemic as an emergency.

Not very interested in fantasy and sci-fi modes, but if I had to choose, I'd choose legendary heroes for fantastic and zombie apocalypse for sci-fi.

I would wish that the new leaders/country's to be ones that haven't been in any of the Civ games

Some good suggestions here. I voted for ideologies, corporations and vassal states. Ideologies and corporations are desperately needed to give some extra flavour to the late game. The Vox Populi mod for Civ V does them very well and they are a glaring omission from Civ VI. Vassal states I think could add an extra dynamic layer to mid and late game politics. Vassals I think could evolve into "spheres" towards the end of the game. The relationship evolves from that off total domination and bullying to string pulling and resource exploitation.

Immigration would be interesting and to keep it balanced Amenities+GPT should be the deciding factor and not Culture/Tourism. Not sure about refugees. I want to keep it balanced for Civs who want to Dominate.
