This is what annoys me - I start up a game of civ, random leader, and I roll Elizabeth of England. Okay, cool, financial and philosophical, let's get advanced!! Okay... all the land around me is brown hills. Alright then.... I have to spam farms and mines. Hmm. I'm not building any cottages at all, not hiring any specialists at all....my land sucks but I have horses, sigh, okay horse archer rush. My traits are useless.

Next game: roll Ghengis Khan. Alright, cool. Let's see now... hmm... oh dear, I rolled an isolated start, I'm on an island...sigh....

I think it's a reference to General Burnside from the US Civil War.

Mr. Burnside Santa Anna lets me down a fair bit - You know you play a lot of Civ when you consider 90% odds to be risky.

HA! That will give you rage.

Although, they effectively extended the lifespan of Civ IV by many years so perhaps it was the greatest gift to CIv players they could give at the time.

Missing the Pyramids around 1500 BC despite being Industrious (AC) + having stone, is something I don't tolerate.

I think I would take the failgold and fund a Praetapult horde to burn every civ on your continent to the ground.

Yeah, I always take those early "xxx has been built" messages as a reminder of what civ I'm taking out.

Hey I just had a great one...

Barb archer shows up onto hill from wilderness
Move chariot onto hill adjacent to block archer's approach on hills
    Archer kills chariot
"Massive barb uprising!" Five barb axes appear on same hill

I again emphasize that raging over things you chose on purpose is silly .

I guess that means that raging about anything in the game is silly since we chose to play.

Spamming logical fallacies does not make them more convincing <3.

Selecting "I want a chance to lose instantly" is not the same thing as "I am angry because my micro optimization or AI bonuses beat me to a city spot" or "advertised features of this game don't work properly". There are different causes of rage in each case, and in the case of something you can simply turn off, leaving it on and then raging over the consequences (especially as a specifically mentioned thing high on one's list) is silly.

It sounds like he just objects to the "appear on same hill" part, not the challange of dealing with this new situation. The RNG should have been programmed not to have units appear randomally 1 or even 2 tiles away from an existing unit. This would have eliminated these instant death situations. I've seen those barb spearmen appear next to a settler about to create a city too.

Ordinarily, no barb can spawn within 2 tiles of *any* unit and no barb city can spawn unless it's in the fog for all civs (note these are different rules; it is possible for cities to spawn where barb units can't).

    Events bypass the spawn rules.
