So I get a sense of relief by expressing my thoughts to people. There's a lot going on right now so I'm just gonna tell you guys because you're all pretty rad.

The biggest event coming in my life right now is a boat trip another guy, and a girl, and I are planning for late October. A friend who's away in college is coming back to town for a week at the end of October so we talked about taking my 11ft boat out in the large harbor we live on, to a tiny little island, right in the middle. We're ready for this, I've got lots of safety equipment, Marine Radio, we'll have tons of food and water, but it's still sketchy, going out there.

Well there's this girl who I'm on friendly terms with/ I've had a thing for her for years, but timing has always worked against our favor. We spoke about this intense rowing trip while she was hanging around, and she mentioned that she loved kayaking (another passion of mine). I offhandley offer her a spot on the boat, because I know she too enjoys adventure. She excitedly accepts, and now I've officially got a crew.

If there are anythings that I love in this world, it's boats, islands, and Mexican girls. Now here I am, preparing to go to an island, on a boat, with a Mexican girl. Not sure things could get any better.

This will be one of the scarier things I've done in my life. As I said this island is smack dab in the middle of a large harbor, and now three young adults are gonna row their way out here.

Are we foolish? Definitely.

Will we set foot on this island? Hopefully.

Good luck, and don't forget the life jackets.

Man, I bought a few good new ones since I can't find any of the old ones in the basement, and then bought a few more to keep stowed on the boat! Expensive but I wouldn't want any less.

But man, we're talking 10 miles of open water to get to this island. I'm nervous as hell, but excited. We've got plans, and we think we have a good idea of what we're doing.

By life-jackets we mean condoms.

Especially as its a three way with two guys and one girl !
That and dont forget to bring some zombie apocalypse gear.

You planning on rowing out 15km in a 3.4 meter boat ? (WHY YOU NO USE METRIC )
Thats pretty far for a small boat, have fun and make sure to take safety seriously.

All the best.

Hope all have a good time.:)

I assumed that Skwink is mature enough to tend to that himself, if the situation warrants it, and was therefore none of my business.

I meant actual life jackets that boaters use to help ensure that they survive if the boat capsizes or they fall into the water. It's mind-boggling how many people go out on boats and either don't bring them, or if they do, they don't bother to wear them.

I don't want the reason for a poster never coming back to be because they drowned in an accident.

(since we're apparently not using words)

Owen, I find .gifs and pointless videos that are meant in a snide way to be really obnoxious.

The "joke" was not funny from my perspective, and I don't appreciate being made part of some "we" that I was never part of.

Though, he really should bring condoms. They can be inflated and used as improvised flotation devices.

survive if the boat capsizes
:groucho:
in the high high tides b5 you sunk my battleship

Skwink, sounds awesome. Go run around and scream from the bottom of your gut to the top of your lungs to help you sleep. Laugh maniacally too. :D

Is this one of the Great Lakes?

Sounds awesome, and I'd jump at the chance to do it! Does the marine radio float, or is it attached to a life jacket?

And if you're still worried, maybe contact the relevant local rescue authorities in advance and let them know what you're planning so they know you'll be out there.

Moderator Action: Sorry, but this is a bit too much of a personal thread without much room for other discussion.
