I would love a banjo, and a friend of mine is starting mandolin (which is funny cause he is a very metal guy).

Guitar (electric, and acoustic) at which I can play lead or (Irish time) rhythm.
Since I've been playing years, I'm pretty good, and known ot some prople as "Rover-man".

Bass is basically just an extension (or rather a cut down version) of guitar.

I can use my voice in my own special way.

    Harmonica, I can fake on.

Also, for a short time, I've been teaching myself the Piano Accordion, and I'm getting somwehat proficient with it.
    Hence my new avatar/signature.

I'm always surprised by how many people think this. I blame popular music :gripe:

Well, in some terms it is, if you're playing guitar by notes instead of chords.

I, for example, prefer using the corresponding strings on a guitar to play a bass line, just because I prefer the sound, and it's easier.

I'm not by any means saying that bass doesn't take skill/experience, but it's easier for guitarists to get the hang of.

In that sense, you could say guitar is just an extension of the bass ;)

But as I say, I blame popular music, where bass typically just follows guitar as you describe.
