Domination you need to keep a lot of cities.

Conquest you can keep the really tasty cities (with wonders) but for the most part you want to raze most of them (the more you keep the more maintenance is hindering your empire and slowing down your war machine). However, you have to chase down EVERY city on the planet, even those annoying suckers on remote islands.

    • Domination you control land mass and population. For %'s required check the victory conditions screen.
    • Conquest you just kill everyone. No need to control population and land mass as well. No land mass need = fewer cities to manage/maintain
