Some people seem to struggle with the definition.

Can you guys help me decide the correct one?

Also, why do some people who find themselves being hypocritical, defend their position even though they know it to be so?

Hypocrisy is the condemnation of an act while indulging in that same act. The old 'Do as I say not as I do' mindset.

One example would be me proclaiming fat chicks are gross while I myself have a body resembling an apple.

Hypocrisy is prevalent because it is easy (and so much fun) to throw stones but much harder to lead by example.

There are many examples of this behavior in the world today. You ask somebody to say/do but you don't and vice versa. Hmm... because you're at a different standard than the others...

You complain about your neighbour's human rights while putting people to secret prisons to be tortured. That's hypocrisy

Sometimes it's related to shortsightedness, misuse or obstinancy of use of specific terms in one's vocabulary to make people look the other way, hid the original motives and impulses that led to the action and more often than not assuming the position of moral superiority where one's own way of action isn't impaired in any circumstances while others can be judged from the high horse.

In example, the use of term "collateral damage" in language.

Ding! we have a winner ;)

"Hypocrisy" is what the person you disagree with is doing.

OED: The assuming of a false appearance of virtue or goodness, with dissimulation of real character or inclinations, esp. in respect of religious life or beliefs; hence in general sense, dissimulation, pretence, sham. Also, an instance of this.

Not very helpful, actually.
