What is the chance a unit will worship a religion?

I'm playing Faeryl Viconia right now, and have been spamming assassins since about ten turns ago. But none of them have the Council of Esus as their state religion even though the CoE is present in all of my cities and is my state religion. Is there a specific formula/chance that a unit will be worshiping a religion, or should I upgrade my assassins from other units?
And another question-I've got a lv.6 hunter I upgraded to an assassin, and he got Aeron's Chosen. But he was not a CoE-worshipping unit. So what do I do now? I've read about Aeron's bounty, but don't what exactly that means.
Thanks A LOT in advance,
Akbarthegreat.

When a unit is built in a city, the game checks the religions in that city. The unit has a 15% to gain the first one checked, and if it doesn't get it, then it has a 15% chance for the next religion, and so on. The Council of Esus is always checked last, so unless it's the only religion in the city, it has a slightly less than 15% chance of being picked. ((0.85^Number of other religions in city)*0.15, to be precise.)

The exception is units that always start with a certain religion, such as priests, or religious heroes. So yes, build nightwatch, who'll always be CoE, and upgrade them to assassins, who'll keep their religion, and be able to use mask.

Aeron's Bounty was a guild. Guilds haven't been in the game for a long time.

(Personally, I've always liked the idea of being able to pay to convert units to the Council. Seems fitting enough.)

Thanks:)

Convert cities or units?

EDIT:So A Moon, do you think I should build Purge the Unfaithful? Will it be worth it? Because I have the Song of Autumn.

Units. And no, don't build it. If a city has just the Fellowship and the Council in it, removing the Fellowship only gives you an extra 3% chance of getting a coe unit, but also means you lose 1 gold per turn, before any multipliers. I wouldn't call it worth it. Build nightwatch, and/or mod in that spell.

Aeron's Chosen
•Immune to First Strikes
•Immune to Fear
•Heal 20% after deafeating a Living
Unit
•+2 Unholy

Aeron's Bounty is so far in the past that I had no idea even what it was until A_Moon's post. Basically, Aeron's Chosen just makes your unit more powerful, nothing else.

BTW, what are the prereqs for getting Aeron's Chosen?
And if any of you guys were following FFH2 since it's beginning, why were guilds removed?

for aeron's chosen ? in FFH ?
first assassin unit to reach .... lvl4 ? or lvl 6? can't remember.

6. I needed to put some more letters into this post to be able to post it. If you're reading this, then yay, easter-eggy-goodness.

In the end they didn't really add anything to the game that couldn't be done other ways and the added complexity wasn't worth it.
'Course in Civ 4 BTS vanilla I like founding and spreading guilds for the economic benefits, but people don't play FfH2 to bake bread, they play it to crush!
(2 gold pieces if you know what game that was the tagline from)
