Newbie question. I don't feel like I have a basis for making this decision. I'm playing the AoD expansion, if that makes a difference.
What is the consequence of refusing the kings requests for cash?

Well, if you refuse the king, there are two effects:
1. The King becomes angry at you. This carries the benefit of having to deal with a larger REF later on as points start to build up for it early on.
2. The king is likely to refuse to give you discounted military units.
I havent seen any other results beside this.

I just never give the King any cash, I don't care how angry he gets. I have better use for my money.

I believe a patch added in that the King's anger increases REF growth rate. I believe this is the case. Be careful. Be balanced in your efforts. A few hundred isn't too painful.

If I am not mistaken, it also seems to affect how much the King jacks up your tax rate.
