What is the specific Release Time?

We all know the Release Date and thanks to Steam have it pre-loaded and ready to go... however, what time exactly should I expect to be able to actually start playing at? I want to make sure that within 5 minutes of the game being activated I've founded my first city (as I'm sure at least 8 or 9 other people on this site will be doing too, right?)

According to Direct2Drive, "September 21st, 2010 at 10AM PST." I can't say if that's for other sites or just D2D.

10am PST is usually the target time for digital releases in my experience, and like he said, that's what D2D has listed.

and how is that for the EU release on the 24th? Is that also at around 10 am CET or something along those lines, or midnight CET friday 24th?

It seems the international release is at 12am CET. At least my steam account tells me that the game will be ready to play at 7am (Singapore time) which means 12am CET.

Yeah, I have half a mind to go into work late just to start the download (I'm using D2D).

We use the 1:00pm rather than 13h here in Western Canada, but I do remember taking french classes and learning to say it your way

But yeah I just checked and it says I will be unlocking at about 10am on the teusday Sucks that I can't stay up until midnight for that, and I need to sit in class from 10:30 till 12:20 :S

That's so sad! I was really anticipating a midnight release so I could at least get in a good 8 hours of game play before going to work. Well, it's a good thing I've got the game preloaded on my home AND work computers!

I donwloaded CIV5 preload on Steam in about 30 minutes. It's not bad. But then again, I was downloading a 2MB/Sec

Whenever the UPS guy arrives; usually around 11AM or so

It'll be released at midnight. Steam always lists it as 10AM PST and, save for just a few instances that I can remember, it was ready shortly after midnight.

One specific example comes to mind: Torchlight was listed as 10AM PST, and was made available to play shortly after 6AM EST.
