What Is This Strange "Unit" I See?

I have noticed that sometimes when I'm attacking a city this strange looking unit appears near my troops. It kinda looks like a wooden punch & judy box. It seems to appear as my units are attacking. A door drop opens and things like blow darts appear to come out of it. It has other movement animation and it may make some sort of wooden percussion instrument type sounds.

Anyone know what this is?

Correct, it shows that you are attacking a city that has built walls. It should appear in conjunction with most (if not all) pre-gunpower units attacking a walled city. I'm not sure if it appears with all units, but I have seen it frequently.

I was under the impression it only appears if you have at least one City Raider promotion.

And I believe the city you are attacking needs to have walls/castles

Everybody is right. It's a siege tower.

It's a matter of both city raider promotion and walls that haven't yet become obsolete.

And it is just eye candy. But it's cool.
