Greeks are too boring. :x I can't stand to play as them. Rome too. Both of those have the most boring flavor alive.
i like babylon alot with america in a close second.
Used to be America but I love playing as Songhai now getting extra gold from Barbarians and city conquests as well has having embarked units able to defend themselves.
Songhai to get the extra money from barbcamps to buy your way to literacy.
And when I play fractal or achipelago, they just delivers with their embarked units.
Songhai is really good. I've never had a better economy than the games I've played as them. Embarking units as them is nice too. Makes war on non Pangaea maps so much easier.
I'm a huge fans of wonders, hence my avatar and my vote for Egypt (and my frequent acquisition of 2 Tradition SPs )
I really enjoy playing as Babylon. Going the sciency route is fun. I also like Egypt for wonder whoring abilites.
I'm not a big fan of Uncle Sam, but I like them because +1 sight and B-17.
America is fun to play, although it's not strongest civ.
Babylon. If Sumer were a playable civ, it would be them instead.
Not any gameplay reason - just their historical significance and coolness factor.
Voted Egypt. Had my best most enjoyable game so far with them. I am a Wonders builder at heart, and their ability to build wonders faster suited me just fine. Had my culture win with them.
Russia of course because I am Russian!
But really, for CIV I like Ghenghis the most. I go for conquest and destruction as playing style and managed to simultaneously fight off Siam, Germany, Songhai, and India with about 3 Khans and 6 Keshiks.
Keshiks are great to use in shooting at enemy and then running away back behind river or your own city ZOC. They will probably be a little weaker after patch with a decrease in their value against cities. But still just a totally awesome tactical unit.
What is your favorite Civilization?
Civ3, though if you're not going by the regular numbered Civ series, I'd say Alpha Centauri was the best of the series so far.
I didn't see these options listed....
Egypt. Always been fascinated with their culture. Their UB makes warmongering with them a little easier, too.
Iroquois. I like eastern Native American cultures. I just feel like it would have been so cool to see how they lived as an early colonial. I also liked the movie Last of the Mohicans (what are books?) and feel I would be the Natty Bumppo guy shooting elk and getting laid.
I know the unique things in the game for the Iroquois are not awesome. I also know they are a marginal civ as compared to the European imperialists, and even other Native American civilizations, but I still like them! I also like them more than midwestern Native Americans. I like the forests more than the plains I guess.
In Civ IV I found myself playing as the Inca the most.
Me too! Easily my favorite Civ of Civ IV.
I love playing as Rome. They're so epic.
The Russians and the Aztecs follow closely. Russia just has awesome background music.
