This can be for any reason at all. Personally, my favorite is flood plain- settler factories rule, and the picture- with the green along the river- looks great.

I'm counting grassland and bonus grassland seperately.

And yes, this is extremely random.

Bonus grassland - gives you an extra bonus shield. Floodplains and grassland would be top if they had wheat or cattle on them (cattle for grassland only).

Straight up bonus grassland, your friend regardless of what govt. you have. There's no prettier sight than your warrior or scout reavealing huge patches of grassland - silver-speckled , cut through with rivers and dotted with cattle. Oh baby.

Flood plains for the early game. Get a wheat on that baby and you can out expand the AI on Emperor.

Bonus Grassland, definately. Although as others have said, i'd take Floodplains/Normal grassland if they had resources on 'em.

[blatant advertisment]GrandMasta Nick, if you want to see a game where the AI is out-expanded, without flood plains/wheat, follow this link :) You could continue them also... (i'm doing best in the Zulu one)[/blatant advertisment]
