What is your nom de guerre?

Or what do you think it should be, now that you ask yourself the question?

Today's NPR news report on Syria told me that Ahmed Al-Sharaa has stopped going by his nom de guerre Abu Mohammed al-Jolani.

That brought the phrase "nom de guerre" back up from the recesses of my memory.

Anyway, it made me wonder to myself what my own nom de guerre should be. I don't have a good answer yet. I want to mull it over. How about you?

Or your nom de plume?

Or your rap alias?

Other than your CFC user name, what alternate names do you go by?

Celestial Marriage, QuantumLove, Quickening, Eos.

As you can see, names derived from either physics or deities. :D

My nom de guerre is Egon the Terrible. In the Roman Senate, I was known as Egonicus Spenglericus. My death metal band is Spores, Molds, and Fungus. Our first album was Are You a God?

The Corn Man.

McLovin' works for me :D

Back when our local Star Trek club had an annual barbecue, part of the festivities included Star Trek Jeopardy! I was the host, Alexius Trebekius.

There might be a couple of other forums where I use "Valka D'Ur". One is a Roman history forum (dunno why I used that name there; I must have had Civ on my mind when I joined).

i'd share it here but i've already shared my name enough. i'll instead talk about this vaguely, but there's still a small story to tell.

i actually had a whole long self-picked row of middle names when i was like 18-19. i planned to add and add (although carefully) over the years, I think I ended up at five; think like people that have a lot of tattoos without having weird ones. all of it is deliberate, careful, and superfluous.

i'd consistently add middle names of characters i both liked and related to, represented something for me. from literature, music, movies, etc.

so it'd be like Samuel Jackson first (if my name was that). so if i like Farnese from Berserk, and she represents a bunch of thoughts I had in life (which she has), i would sign myself as Samuel Farnese Jackson on unofficial papers. could also be figures of names or similar, like Tracy (which is yes a name but also a title of two songs that have meant a lot to me, from different bands, and represented two kinds of moods/forces), or just outright nonsense of stuff that means something to me, like Deesh which is a song by Mogwai (which does not mean anything for me, but I needed an example of nonsense). Samuel Tracy Deesh Farnese Jackson.

it was kind of self-absorbed jackass behavior, but i miss it a bit. i still have one of the names left on facebook. it was like picking parts of the world that had become part of me, and making them part of me, whenever possible. again, no official papers were signed like that, but it was fun to play around with.

I'm known in some circles as Miss Q.

No, nothing to do with the Q from Star Trek, nor the James Bond one, nor even the Q-ships of WW1 the Bond role derived from, though I do share a few traits with each.

Maybe you often speak out of turn.

I have my own favored nom de guerre for you, Igloo; maybe you remember.

Some people call me the space cowboy, yeah, some call me the gangster of love. Some people call me...Maurice.
