Well, Davism, and Solarism, and FSMism, and all those religions who don't really have any sincere followers but just people trying to prove a point.
Nah, for me at least, it would be no different from Tolkien saying that he followed the religion of Eru.
Well, your motive may be somewhat different, but the idea is similar.
(And I have seen enough of these threads that if I ever made one, I would include a category for it. I also wouldn't have multiple kinds of Muslim or Judaism and only one category for "agnostic/atheist", of course.)

My comments were not mutually exclusive. Atheism, is not a religion per se; although some religions are be designed atheist in nature - like buddhism. It is not a lack of religion, but a belief that god or gods dont exist.
But to muddy it up even further, I am sure someone, somewhere has probably founded the "church of atheism' in order to worship the great nothing out there and declare themselves a religion right along with everything else. Wouldnt surprise me in the least.
