I don't know about you guys but I think we are witnessing a peak of modding activity these days. Many new mods are coming out while older ones are still getting better with new releases. New mod components are worth noting. New modular civs, and new Leader Heads that excel over the ones made before.

New comers to CFC might find difficulty deciding which mod to try first. In fact old frequenter of the forums may experience the same difficulty. Some excellent mods may not get the attention they deserve. For these reasons I would like to invite those who like to make recommendations or shed some light on their favorite mods to contribute their thoughts and tell others why they should play this or that mod today.

Ranking mods as good, better, and best is not the purpose, though personal opinions are welcome. I will try to introduce my favorite mods one after the other in next posts whenever I have time. So come and share your opinions with the rest of us. In some manner it is a way to say thanks to those who spent a lot of time and exerted a lot of effort laboring for free to offer us more fun, excitement, and (one shouldn't forget) more money back for our investment purchasing this game and its two expansions.

As I mentioned in my first post no ranking is implied. I started with Amra's mod simply because the basic version almost introduces no game play changes. For that I recommend it for both new comers and old CFC members (though it would be odd that any of the later is not aware of it).

If you don't want to play a different game but still like to spice up your civing experience this mod is for you. Amra's mod offers a very rich BTS experience incorporating many more civilizations and Leader Heads along with a huge number of flavored units from VD and other sources. Adding to this incorporating the excellent BUG mod that IMO is a great educational tool for new players as it teaches them to pay attention to many game aspects that they can be oblivious of simply because getting data about them requires digging into different advisers' screens.

Amra manages his mod very well with patches steadily smoothing out any discovered bugs and updating components to their latest versions, besides adding new contents as well.
