  • Yes, I would very much like a third expansion. Civ 4 has much more to give!

Alas, I fear that the most likely thing to come before either of those will be another "3rd Expansion or Civ 5" thread...

I don't really think there's more to add. Between great generals, espionage, corporations, unique buildings, and all the new modern units and technologies, anything else will make the game more complicated without making it any more fun.

If Fall From Heaven shows how much they can do with the current engine, all the different choices, tech branching, units, etc. I don't see why they'd need to do otherwise aside from planned obsolecence.

I totally agree. There's so much more potential in what we have. Priority should be to properly finish BtS - and the best way to ensure that is continuing work on another expanision (Vanilla 1.74 and Warlords 2.13 were released together with BtS, I guess that's no coincidence). But the release of the 'Civ IV Complete' compilation indicates that there probably won't be another expansion.
But to be honest, I'd even buy an collection of the best fan made mods ans scenarios + a handfull from Firaxis. I really liked what they included with BtS, and it really would be fun to see, what else could be done with the package.

WE NEED ASSYRIA!!!!!!!!! And Iroquois And what the hell?
Yeah and we need Lebanon and Sri Lanka and Malaysia not to forget Armenia and South Africa and Yemen, we also need Thailand and Indonesia and Australia and Canada, I would also like New Zealand Civ and also a Chile Civ, we also need a California Civ and a Texas civ and last but not least a Simpsons Civ based around Sexually Intimating Springfield!

Civ4 is good enough , If they want to add more just make expansions . And til Technology is advanced enough go for Civ5 .
Agreed. I don't think they should make Civ V until they can make it COMPLETELY different from Civ IV. (technology wise, graphics, etc.)

This says it all for me. :)

:agree:

there's not much to add... it would be add more civs and even more hard to invent their UU (vulture&dog soldier are examples of UU invented...)

however, there's much to update in BtS (Civ4 vanilla doesn't need that much...); so what they should do is eliminate all the BtS bugs, add some easy features; quickly finish Civ Rev (the game will suck, no matter what you guys say...) and start working on a decent Civ5 (if the game doesn't have the paratrooper; even if it is vannila or w/o patches, i'll freak out [pissed] and WON'T BUY IT!!! :aargh: ; it was enough the suffering i had due to that in Civ4... )

WHAT WE NEED IS POLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like writing big too!;)

Bottom line on an expansion is if they make it, i'll buy it.

Yes, SMAC II.

And make it real SMAC without all this CIV3/4 "Balancing" and nerfing crap. If I can't bend the game to total domination on the highest level then it's been CIV3/4 "balanced". Where's the fun in that?:crazyeye:

I could go for a new battle system, and new every other system that made things more real-to-life, while keeping it somewhat simple.

Looking back, Civ 2 had two "expansions" from memory - Fantastic Worlds and ummm, that other one with the scenarios too.

Civ III had two expansions.

Civ IV has two expansions.

While it would be nice to add little features into the game, one would imagine Firaxis would instead focus on other products for the time being, perhaps remaking Colonisation, or even SMAC. I feel sorry for the poor lead designer that would have to do SMAC II though, big big shoes that would have to be filled.

Alternately, Firaxis may even try something completely different.

Sounds good to me. I agree, "balancing" does not add to games. I'd rather have one civilization be somewhat dominant in an era (as happened in real life) than having to constantly re-memorize traits. I'd just as soon say no balancing (post-release) at all.

SMAC II sounds good, too. I'm still hoping to buy SMAC I.

I voted Civ5 just so we can get a version without such cartoonish graphics. CivIII has better-looking graphics than Civ4 it's so bad. The artillery not being able to destroy city improvements also must be fixed. Yeah, I write too much on this already, I'll stop here.

I totally agree with you. I think that even now there are useless fills like modern era movies. If something is done, it should be unit balances and better unit features. These can made by updates.

Another expansion would be nice. It should introduce at least a second UU and UB for each civ. ( firaxis tip. ) Bazaar as 2nd UB for Arabia .. as market but either 1 extra trade route or 1 free merchant specialist, you decide) No new civs are necessary but some civs could do with more leader options esp. those that even with BTS still have only one leader, please, please no more leaders for those that already have 3 leaders!

Oh and fix all the bugs with BTS civ before starting on the expansion.

Nah I want SMAC 2, before Civ 5.

As for farther improvements to Civ 4, the one area that really needs improvement is the naval combat, basically right now there is pretty much no way to intercept incomming armadas.
