What the hell is wrong in South Africa?

There are also times when the people were drunk, but actually liked the person they went home with. But that has nothing to do with actual consent

I've never slept with an ugly woman...I've woken up next to few of 'em... :mischief:

Considering that Perth is so close to South Africa, we do hear lots of things that do go on there. But this is common knowledge that there is a lot of sexual crimes committed there. I remember hearing of a rape of a young child, maybe even a baby, because it was said that you could cure yourself of AIDS by having sex with a virgin, so they have to really make sure. :vomit:

But it is a world wide problem of rape, but even though it is a problem, it is hard for men to know if a woman is really giving consent or not. I do remember a case where a woman had group sex with some Rugby players. Apparently she said she did not consent to all of them, but others who knew her said that she was bragging about the experience. I think that is the whole problem with reporting rape is that how do we know what is consent when you have a woman who does say yes, but then regrets what she did and thus calls it rape. The issue of consent at times can be tricky, especially if you have been chatting to the girl for the night and then go back for the night. Of course it is obvious when you go out and grab a random woman with the only intention of violating her, or when you coerce a relative of yours besides your wife, to have sex. That is one reason why I am not going to have sex until I am married, so I am making sure that consent is given, since I am not an abusive man, so I will not force myself on her.

The "curing AIDS" one is true. Many people here believe that AIDS is something you can "give away", ie if you give it to someone, you no longer have it. Thus, a baby is a safe bet, because it hasn't had sex with anyone yet, so it doesn't have AIDS. :(

It is a difficult thing because sex is a socially touchy subject to start with, so I can imagine scenarios where consent is a bit of a grey area. But even in such a situation, I can only imagine that a woman would "allow" a man to sleep with her without her actual consent () in order to manipulate him later via the threat of reporting rape.

:rolleyes::rolleyes: yeah, because you find something far-fetched and you anecdotal knowledge dosent match up, it mustn't be true

Apparently not. I think this is really the crux of the rape problem in the world today. Many men don't think it is actually happening as frequently as it does since that means a lot of their acquaintances, and even friends, are rapists. They also rationalize it away that women who are saying 'no' are really saying 'yes', or by claiming the female is trying to be manipulative by concocting it. They typically point to a few rare cases where it was found the female was actually lying, such as the Duke Lacrosse team fiasco, and use that as their basis to explain away all the rest.

I have only had one woman admit to me that she had been raped. Most don't like to talk about it for obvious reasons. She was a co-worker who got raped during a date with another co-worker. She left the company so she would not have to face him on a daily basis, and she finally admitted why she had left after I pressured her to do so. The rapist kept trying to get me to "go out and pick up chicks" with him. He even showed me the bullwhip he kept in his car...

And in my country, it's legally rape if there wasn't consent given.

Indeed. As it should be in any country...

Its all nice but rape its one of few and maybe only crime where victim most likely will not report crime. Majority of women there simpoly dont tell anybody. Crime statistics simply doesnt work here.

Yep. For that reason, most rape statistics are skewed way lower than they actually are...

Shouldn't barbarity be a bannable offense? You know, this is a Civilization Fanatics Forum.

Oh no, the radical feminist agenda has gotten me too!

If 5% of the men have raped someone in the last year, all of a sudden America's "2% of the population is currently jailed" takes on a whole new meaning. And that's even with the bogus charges regarding marijuana.

I can't really think of a charity NGO that could help with something like this, other than Marie Stopes International (and they're not a registered Canadian charity)

28 % + at lest 1% (out of the 3% homosexual rapers), not to mention that some would not admit that... it's more than a quarter.

Sounds like they need some HIV-awareness at the least.

Many men in South Africa, but also elsewhere (Cameroon at least) believe that, if they sleep with a virgin, the AIDS will go away. That's why there was a plague of toddler-rapers in South Africa, because in this case, you are sure they're virgins. Another belief is that if you sleep with a large number of women, you pass AIDS to them, and less AIDS remains in yourself etc.

Not to mention some believing AIDS do not exist, or is a plot of the white people or whoever. Oh well.

I am optimistic and I believe that this strange attitude will go away, finally, but I pity the poor rape victims that will have to suffer till it ends.

I hope the women will mobilise and vote against rapist politicians.

Zuma said, after having relations with an HIV-positive woman, that he took a shower afterwards to reduce the risk of contracting the disease.

It isn't, almost surprisingly. Yes, statutory rape happens (people become sexually active at shockingly low ages around these parts); but there is also a massive incidence of "proper" rape, even among women who are under the age of consent.

i was talking about cases were it was rape but the victim didnt view itself as rape victim, not rape in general.

Right, because the dismissive attitudes of cops unless a woman has visible bruises and blood and was a virgin and wasn't dressed slutty is clearly a good thing.
Clearly you missed the point. I'm sorry.

You know, this means that there are more rapists in South Africa than there are people in Israel. Back-of-the-envelope, anyway.
