"Lack of education and a prevalence of tribal values" is why 1 in 4 men admit to rape in SA? So, in Scandinavia a few hundred years ago 1 in 4 men raped women? Interesting, I didn't know that.

No, it's why 1 in 4 men commit rape. And I'm not talking about Scandinavia, I'm talking about South Africa. The Zulu and Xhosa tribes have a very androcentric way of going about things, and the rape of a woman is simply "putting her in her place", "claiming her", and demonstrating one's masculinity and power. Furthermore, neither the men nor the women here are educated enough to know what rape is, and the women will never report it because even the Westernised aspect of their society is still ruled by men.
There have been about 1000 rapes in SA since RRW posted this article.

Go back to the Vikings and yes... that would be quite plausible. I think you can assume that almost any man who went a-viking would have committed at least one rape at some time.
But we don't have to go back so far - think of all the rapes committed in our 'civilized' Europe during the wars of the last century ... you know, by 'educated' men who should have known better.
The sad truth seems to be that many men will commit rape when they think they can get away with it - no matter of what culture.

And more on "unreported rape", many burglary, robbery, shoplifting and theft are also unreported. I have seen only a fraction of them has ever been brought to authority. Especially in areas with high crime rate. Police don't bother.

I'm generally reluctant to make assumtions without actual facts, but TBH I would imagine rape was extremely common during warfare or raids in medieval times. for Vikings who lived by raids and pillage, I'd bet my right ball most of them were rapists.

I'm sure it happend. But the statement earlier in the thread supposed rape was as common in Scandinavia a couple of hundred years ago as it seems to be in SA now, going as far as saying, without anything to back it up, that 1 in 4 Scandinavians were likely rapists at that time.

Central and eastern european are trying to make us think that their countries are a beakon of respect towards women and that all the "feminist" BS is not for them. Now I have a very hard time believing this when one third of women traffiking comes from eastern Europe. When a society is so permissive when it comes to "selling" its own women as prostitues and sex slaves, I think that indicates that generally women are considered very low and rape must be a "no issue". You don't see that in the official statistics? well, I am not surprised, in a country where women can be "sold", what kind of interest do you think a "rape" would trigger among people? nada.
