I started a game as Ramses and I got this start

It was a fabulous start for what I am doing (wonderspam) but I am debating whether to go fishing>Mining>BW>Masonry or Mining>Masonry>BW>fishing
comments?

No need for BW so early imo. I would go fishing first while building your worker to improve the corn. Then build fishing boats with the goal of getting your city to the happy cap asap. Go masonry second to improve those tiles and connect them as you start with the wheel. By that time you should have at least a boat or two made and you probably don't need 3 boats right away. After masonry I would go for mysticism so you can get stonehenge easily.

Basically with this start I would follow obsolete's gameplan (he has many threads on it) and go for a pile of early wonders (stonehenge, great wall, oracle, pyramids for sure others as you can get them). Spit out a settler when you can and then use the 2nd city to expand your empire (which is something I disagree with him on I still think it is important to expand your empire and think it is why he doesn't win his games earlier than he does).

You should be able to build the majority of the wonders in the game if you play your cards right but you need to expand as well.

I'd say start with Fishing, crank out a couple of workboats (three might be overdoing it) and then use the high food input and population (city grows while building workboats) to build/whip some workers and other early builds. I'm no expert though and would take my advice with a grain of salt.

I was leaning towards fishing first but I was unsure if I needed it asap because of the irrigated corn. Thanks for your imput.

In any case, you can't build a workboat first, but you have agriculture; and because you also want to go for mining and masonry, you should be ok by building worker first and then one or two workboat.

I figured city #2 was to build all the wonders you don't want polluting your GPP pool (+artist wonders). Cities 3-6 (or however many needed on the size map) are there to build the required number of courthouses/forges/theatres/universities for their associated national wonder. At least that's what I gathered from obsolete's threads... kinda hard to follow them without a more detailed description of what he does and why he does it.

Oh also cities 2-6 shouldn't be a priority until all the early +prophet and +engineer wonders are built. Incidentally, great wall doesn't qualify as a necessary wonder (+spy points, meh), but it's nice to build to keep barbarians off your back.

That's true by how Obsolete plays his games and he plays his strat very well and wins consistently, so that is great. My only criticism of him is that his wins come consistently very late and I think that he would win his games earlier if he expanded his empire more earlier, so that is all I am recommending. Yes, it is good to nab artist-polluting wonders in a secondary city but I would recommend to think expansion and perhaps prioritize expansion over such wonders, especially given that parthenon usually goes really late in games and you can nab it effectively any time you want to usually. So once you get your critical wonders generated in your capital, spit out a settler and use that city to spit out a couple more settlers (maybe chopped out) that you use to continue to develop your empire while your capital continues to churn out wonders. Nab artist-polluting wonders in a 2nd high-production city once your expansion is proceeding nicely.

I would wait on fishing, the happy cap is low and the corn offers more food. The flood plain can be farmed for now. I would get masonry soon and crank out the stone wonders. Great wall will offset not going for the early military techs, and after getting GW, you can get a settler to found a second city and start on the mids while then going for fishing.

The fishing tiles offer more commerce and the fishing boats can be built while the capital is growing.

I agree, but first build should be a worker here in this case. Then after that the fishing boats are less important, as is the commerce early, it would only shave off like a turn off research. I would go worker, warrior warrior settler. While researching mining, masonry, myst. The work could farm the corn and start the road to the stone and maybe have time to farm the flood plain. The one commerce lost will be made up for quickly with the early expansion and the early start on wonders.

You can also go mysticism --> masonry. This start looks too good to be true, the map generator only gives me a start like this when I am isolated...on a tiny continent with mostly tundra.

I think I would skip fishing for a while. The irrigated corn, plus maybe a floodplain is plenty of food, and I want a worker out ASAP for the corn and the quarries. Probably mining/masonry/mysticism/BW. After BW, chop another worker. Build GW then SH then Pyramids. AFter BW, fishing, then techs in order to open up wonders. I wouldn't worry about a settler unless there is copper nearby for colossus.

If financial, fishing looks better, but as it is, it is only 1 more commerce than the other food tiles you can work, and workboats take hammers away from GW and SH.

There are many factors:

1st: What the difficulty level is? At Immortal/Deity you should go straight to hunting-archery.

2nd: How about your plans? This stars is wonderful for cultural victory, so you must enable stone and marble ASAP and try for early religion- mysticism-masonry-politheism- monotheism. Early religion also will help you a lot with the happines. You have many resources, but noone provides happines, so it will be the main problem.

3rd: You can decide to try your nice UU and go for early War Chariot rush. But you need AH to see is there horses or not.

4th: The map type is also important.

5th: The next few turns the warior will reveal some black tiles and eventualy any neighbours. This may change everything.

I would start with fishing first. No doubts, I will need it soon in any case. I will make any future plans when fishing is done and I have more information about the map and the neighbours.

Just a off.topic question

How do you get the grafics shown in that screenshot, cause mine dosent look that cool. ?

This is Monarch so thats not important

I was going to try to get all the wonders and get a diplo victory since I have never gotten one of those

Not good for diplo and map type

Large Terra

I played for a little and my closest neighbor was joao on a peninsula in the tundra so my first settler blocked him off

Thats what I ended up doing

Thats blue marble. It can be found here.

Will you give an update on how you do. I am mainly interested on how jao leverages a terra situation with his UU.
