What TV Shows are you watching? ι', a perfect I.

It's not that people can't "identity" that a plot was basic or hackneyed: after all, there are many, many romance novels that follow exactly the same structure and sell like hot cakes.
Those were in the rest of the crowd, although I can agree that they should be a very large part of the remaining audience, so you definitely have a good point - going by how the most vocal group which (in reddit etc) expresses favorable views about HotD are certainly rom fans.
They are aided in this by people who really don't discern between basic and non-basic plots though.

Season 2 of The Diplomat was fun. I also binged Penelope in one weekend. I enjoyed both, and wouldn't mind seeing more. I think The Diplomat seems more likely to get another season, but the writers of that series better be aware that a 3rd season on Netflix is a gift, and they should write it as though it will be its last. I'll be pleasantly surprised if Penelope gets a 2nd season.

Currently watching: Say Nothing and season 2 of Lioness are both excellent so far. I also watched the first two episodes of The Penguin. I had no intention of watching this one, but then Milioti's performance got rave reviews and I love her, and then MAX offered a $2.99/mo sale. The problem I have with shows like Penguin is that I just don't care for or about the main character. Farrell's performance is certainly impressive. I'll probably keep watching, if only because I have a few days off around the holiday, but it's on the bubble.

Watched 3 eps or so and I'm on the same page. From a character point of view, I'm more interested in what Cristin Milioti does next, than I am in Colin Farrell's Penguin. We must have watched 30 other crime series by now, also dealing with ambition, backstabbing and civil war. There's nothing new here that elevates this series above the rest from a story perspective.
This ain't no Breaking Bad successor.

Erm, is there a caption missing somewhere?

Binge watched Arcane on Netflix. Apparently is is based off of the lore from the game League of Legends.
It was alright. Enjoyable enough, but it felt a bit tryhard at points. Not as good other stylized animated offerings on Netflix like Cyberpunk Edgerunners or Blue Eye Samurai.
(Blue Eye Samurai is awesome!)

National Geographic series on the 2004 Tsunami. Episode 1

Finished, watching the series the other day. What a macabre journey that was. I couldn't stop watching once I started though. One thing particularly difficult for me is the footage. Much of the footage is shaky, lots of movement and just running with a recorder, the screen jumping and bouncing all over. That sort of motion makes me ill, motion sickness, that plus the content made it really difficult. Most of the stories involved people being reunited so that was a bit of a twist, cant help but think about the sheer number of people who were not reunited though. Also the magnitude of the event is mind blowing, an area the length of California literally lifts the ocean above it and causes a massive displacement of water. Also the scientist who mentions that a magnitude 10 earthquake would be the earth ripping in half and the 2004 quake was an 8.9.

The Split on BBC. Three sisters and their dysfunctional family, relationships, marriage. Two of them work in law firms specializing in prenups and divorces, which just adds to the chaos in their personal lives. Oh, their absent father suddenly shows up as well, throwing emotional hand grenades everywhere as a bonus.

I started rewatching The Expanse (2015) again over the weekend. If you like science fiction even occasionally and haven't seen The Expanse, there's very little else like it (the only comparable for me would be For All Mankind, which I also recommend). It's probably one of my Top 3 sci-fi shows of all time, and possibly one of my Top 10 shows of all time, of any genre. The books are good, too.

I forgot how long it is before Drummer and Bobbie are even introduced. They became such central characters for me that I forget they weren't in the show from the beginning.
