What TV Shows are you watching? ι', a perfect I.

La Palma.
Great premise, great cast, great cinematography, great first half, horrible second half. 😕

Spy×Family for fun and profit.

Finished the second season of Shrinking. Underwhelmed. Read an article saying the third season would be about moving on. This is exactly what seasons one and two were about, and I already felt season two was just an exercise in cyclic retreading. They're milking this well and good. It has no charm anymore.

In brighter news, Älska mig has been great, as hoped. There's a character in it that I find really endearing and sweet. Her scenes are always a joy. Highly recommend so far.

Just did the traditional "Christmas Lunch Incident" viewing from Vicar of Dibley for Christmas. As funny as ever.

Watched my first episode of Mad Men last night: enjoyed it. Will continue.

IIRC the early seasons were excellent and then it kinda dragged. It has been a while though.

I came away basically hating every character within the first season except one.

Particularly Roger, I dunno why. Don runner up.

They were the 1950s Madison Avenue professionals. Perfectly cast.

Sadly S2 of Squid Game was rather bad.
But what surprised me was that it actually looked cheaper than S1. The games were imo noticeably worse too.

It started out fine enough with the premise of Gi-hun using his prize money to track down the recruiter and the island. That felt like the natural continuation to where the first season left him. I liked it less and less when it started repeating itself; I didn't think his plan to
Spoiler :
infiltrate the organization by joining the game again, made much sense. Nor did the 7th episode with its vastly prolonged gunfights. Those aren't the means with which Gi-hun beat the games the first time around; it felt so out of place, making it into an action set piece.

So yeah, I'm somewhat disappointed with how this turned out. I expected better from the same writer/director.

Tbh it was more difficult to make Squid Game S2 bad than it would be (was? :) ) to do that for Severance S2. If anything, Squid Game had a specific idea from the start, while it is to be inferred that Severance was literally never thought through and they panicked when the fans read more things into it than anticipated.
I'd err on the side of caution and give it only a 99% chance of sucking.

Well, I think the idea at the heart of Severance, was a stroke of genius. Everyone with a job can relate to it and its characters in some way. Found season one to be perfectly coherent in its own internal logic. Suspect season 2 will be The Lumon Empire Strikes Back.

Thanks, now I can skip it!
