Conversely, here cable is the new streaming. :rotfl:

I've finished Coroner. Final verdict: heavy, but possibly good. It is a CBC show about a Toronto coroner who solves cases along with a detective. Fairly stereotypical model there. However, it focuses heavily on mental and physical health, as well as Indigenous representation. Strong themes of PTSD, anxiety, dementia, cancer, and so on. Often to a point of discomfort. I enjoyed my watch, overall, but I will likely never watch it again.

The last show I watched was the first few episodes of Ted Lasso. It was funny but I just don't enjoy watching TV that much.

That's been on my list of recommends by people who know my taste.

But, um, Midnight Mass.
I'd recommend watching zero trailers. It's about a sleepy village and a new priest comes to town. The one thing to note: this production really likes monologues. Luckily, they're effing amazing.

Spoiler One scene, don't watch if it's a spoiler :

Like, I don't know how Karma works if the entire universe has been arranged for me to see that scene but ... I must've been a better person than I thought.

I'll give it a watch.

Update: Gave the first episode a gander. It was well put together and intrigued my interest. The story seems a little scattered and certainly using that to build tension. Seems like it has a lot of influence from stranger things from what I saw of season one. I'm gonna try to catch a few more episodes tonight.

Update 2: Watched/skimmed the rest of the series. Fantastic feel. Probably will check out the haunting series by the same director. Thanks for the recommendation.

Kevin Conroy (age 66) has died of cancer.

He was the best Batman everrrrrrrr.

The one true Batman - the voice I’ll always hear in my head whenever I read or write a Batman comic book - has passed.
I’ll miss you forever, @realkevinconroy6.
You had us all from the first episodes of #batmantheanimatedseries with a voice so commanding yet so comforting as well.
Yours was the soothing voice of a hero that no criminal would ever know; all the bad guys ever heard were the grunts you’d emit while beating them senseless.

The English on Prime is starting out really good. It's a Western set in 1890. Emily Blunt stars

Well, I finally started my Deep Space Nine rewatch. The pilot for this show is heavy. I've always been impressed by how significant it managed to be, so quickly. Most pilots range from mediocre to passable. DS9's pilot, even back as a teen, roped me in immediately. As I've gotten older, it hits me more and more.

Especially the scene where the Prophets keep taking Sisko to the memory of when his wife dies and he's dragged away.

Sisko: "I don't want to be here."

Prophets: "Then why do you exist here?"

Never fails. It applies to so much that can haunt someone from their past. I've always been someone who stays in those memories. Why do I exist there?

So that is Emily Blunt. I saw what looked like her on the thumbnail (or whatever) in Prime, but could not find her name in the info, so thought my eyes were messing with me. Will def be watching that one.

The Peripheral last night was the best yet....show just gets better and deeper as it goes....just really good sci-fi going on here. The big mystery still to be answered is:
Spoiler :
what the heck is the jackpot.....I have my theories and theories on the peripheral itself.

Added Warrior Nun S2 and The Old Man to my current stable of stuff-I'm-watching. Wifey sat in on the first ep of the latter, so that's now 'our' show

Tried the first episode of Blockbuster, because I like the two leads, but it didn't enthuse me as much as I'd hoped it would.

Big Mouth, OTOH, is proving to be rather binge-able.

Also coming "soon" to Netflix.de: Inside Job S2, and S.W.A.T. S4

The Devil's Hour on Amazon Prime with Jessica Raine and Peter Capaldi.

Liked it. Supernatural elements, a creepy child, a downtrodden protagonist that you just want to give a hug. The note on which it ends - the last scene with Jessica Raine - it's very reminiscent of
Spoiler :
how Terry Gilliam's Twelve Monkeys ends, which coincidentally also deals with a character being trapped between time lines/realities.

I watched the first 3 episodes of Succession. It's about a super rich family in charge of a major entertainment corporation. It kind of reminded me of Game of Thrones only set in the modern day/real world. All the characters are manipulative, power hungry, and just a-holes all around. I liked the scheming and machinations of who is going to get the power in the family business but I have a hard time sympathizing with any of the characters.

...but I have a hard time sympathizing with any of the characters.

I don't think you are meant to; actor Brian Cox (Logan Roy) has stated, that he doesn't sympathize with any of the Roy's either, including his own character.

Succession is a bit like watching a family of Patrick Batemans.

So finally the powers-that-be at the cable company complex have decided to air Season 7 of Castle. I must say I'm getting tired of every season ending/starting with a cliffhanger and a life/world-threatening crisis like this. We already know they'll be together after it if you've filmed another 20-odd episodes.
We also have at least one Portuguese person in a pinch. :)
I nearly forgot about this! Yes, but Joao III doesn't post that much so is easy to overlook.
