What Type of Economy Do You Normall Use?

Cottage, Specialist, Hybrid-Specialist Heavy, Hybrid-Cottage Heavy, or other??

For Hybrid Economies, use the 80/20 rule as a rough guide
Hybrid-Specialist Heavy = roughly 80% specialist, 20% cottage
Hybrid-Cottage Heavy = roughly 80% cottage, 20% specialist

I personally normally run cottage most often but am trying specialist now with no real success so far, but getting better.
 
I Voted Other: Loser Economy

This is where I consistently make the wrong choices until I'm clearly in a losing position. :)
 
It's all about that late game cottage economy. Towns that get an extra hammer running Universal Sufferage are tough to compete against. Financial civs would be foolish to not opt for cottage economies.
 
More than 20% of yield is almost always explained by trade routes, GPP acquired regardless of whatever garbageE term you use, and hammers.

I bet half of the people voting for another option don't even realize it.

There are no economies, only good or bad play.
 
I vote late game hammer economy. Not that it's an "economy" per se since you basically stop caring about research when you switch over.
 
I went hybrid CE heavy. One intersting point since BTS has come out, I find myself starting CE dependant early with scientists sp[ecialists to compensate for over-expanding early. Later in the game I start adopting a more heavy SE game with food corps, reprentation, nationalism (not needed for SE but FS is needed for the CE) plus Assorted buildings. Odd because in Vanilla/Warlords it was the exact opposite. Go figure.

The only time I keep the CE if I really need State Property for a larg empire, but since I have gone to Normal speed I find myself getting mostly Space wins rather than military conquests from my Marathons days.
 
Normally SE-hybrid, Economy based on alternating between Specialists and Workshops is fun to me. I can win reliably on Monarch with Philo leaders. Mainly centered around an early cannon push. I now try to make the capital or an early city a commerce focused bureaucratic capital. Sometimes i skip this and go hammer capital and war to pay the bills at 0% science.

I have played a few games on immortal with finance leaders -> cottage focused economy and probably thanks to TMIT's videos held my own. The deciding wars came later and took longer, so i didn't see them to their end. I don't have an immortal level SE game, so cottages are my best bet with some bulbing from a couple specialists.

If i go random leader then its really just playing the map and difficulty. Monarch i can usually force an SE to work even if the map doesn't agree. Immortal demands efficiency, which for better or worse seems to be achieved easier with cottages.
 
well, I'd give percentages, but my % depends completely on how often I get stone. So whatever the map generator's % of having stone within one of my first 3 cities.
 
There's one kind of economy I've always wondered about.

Has anyone ever tried building an economy which runs entirely on building research (i.e., you build hammer multipliers in your cities and improvements which emphasis production)? I wonder how well that would work. I think I'm going to try it.

other than the fact that you need alphabet to build research nad currency to build wealth there are many people who do this very often.

building wealth can help you run the science slider higher, which is good since you usually have the science multipliers in your high commerce cities, rather than the gold multipliers.
 
Depends on the land and traits really. Food rich I go SE heavy, Food poor I go CE heavy. I really am enjoying the past few games (a 100k point finish for the first time last week) where I've been very SE heavy.
 
Always CE - simply because I find it easier to manage.
.. but then occasionally I'll have to start assigning specialists for cities where tuning is critical (typically when I am losing wonder or tech race).

It's unclear what this means. When you wrote the poll, you might not even have known yourself, precisely. Or if you thought you knew, it might have had holes. Either of which would indicate a problem with the poll. Unless the purpose of the poll was to elicit what people *think* they're doing.
 
i run cottage only, except for a GP farm... except immediately after writing when i run scientists to be able to get to currency/col
