Poll coming.

Where does the other end go?
I do applaud you on implementing HDCP in your brain. Now even that belongs to the MPAA.

You had to ask :p

At first it was the lack of contrast....and the slow response time was a PITA. Then there's the fact that I like to view from varying angles - that alone is enough to turn me off them. With better LCDs I still find that I prefer the CRTs electrical influence rather than the LCDs mechanical influence over the compression of dynamic range. Not only do I find the LCDs rendition to be a little brittle and sometimes dark, but I find them less relaxing to view at this time. Then there's dead pixels.

About 2 months ago I bought a BenQ 22" LCD for a friend and set it up for them. It was a fairly good monitor and they had no complaints.

I have a CRT that came with the computer. In total, me and mom got three monitors -- my CRT, her LCD, and the CRT she used before getting the LCD. (We keep that as a spare monitor.)

I find it unfair that she uses her computer half as much as I do, yet she gets the flatscreen LCD monitor!!! Eh, parents...

On my Aptiva IBM, the monitor was about the size of the book on my table (about 9 inches by 6 inches -- the monitor may have been a little off -- maybe 7 by 7)

I bought big CRTs when those were the thing. But big CRTs used to be expensive. I remember that my 17" CRT cost $600 back in the mid 90s. Good thing it lasted around 7 years.

Just a question. Why did you respond 2 days after you made the thread instead of in the OP?

More or less the same here. I now use a 21" Trinitron....although LCDs have been getting better. It would have to be pretty darn good though.

To let others have a chance to respond first.
