They at least seem to work. Morale shocks do make units break, and if they're ashigaru they may chain break. Takeda is fun to watch do that with his terrifying trait. They do have the problem that spears are everywhere, and everything on a horse is allergic to everything with a stick, but a couple units seem to be a valuable addition. I find they are far more frustrating in Warhammer Mortal Empires. Unless you're fighting goblins or rats or something, units just do not run. Monsters are where it's at, horses can kind of suck it.

    lol
I dropped an 'r' from 'your character' but what I was trying to say that you can tell your character to walk toward an area that is in clear view with no obstructions and half the time they do nothing as if you gave them an impossible order to follow.

    .....

    .....

Against my best judgement I did start a new game. I had just mastered the controls and the way the game works when I realized I had completely screwed up all the main quests so I'm going to give it another college try. It's already going 10x smoother this time around.

Same experience when I upgraded my laptop about a year ago. I went up to an HP Omen, very cool... although it came with a 256GB SSD and I realized my mistake as soon as it came... so I immediately bought a 1TB SSD... but I've been putting off installing it because … just too lazy to take it apart. The geniuses at HP thought it would be funny not to give the thing a standard hard-drive panel to access the hard drives. Instead you have to remove like 175 screws (along with the glued in rubber tabs over them in order to access the hard drives

So only now, when my SSD is giving me the "no more space" warning due to the massive amount of football game film I'm uploading (from coaching this season) did I finally decide to change out the SSD. Which of course means that I'll have to reinstall all my programs

But the plot thickens because of course now I've moved to a new house and I cant remember what box the damn SSD is in :shake:.

But THEN!... I realized that the rig has a SECOND 1TBHD onboard... so I just copypasted all my photos and videos to the HD and voila! The SSD has 200GB of empty space again ... So I guess I get to procrastinate for another year :woohoo:

Mostly I use cavalry for running down fleeing enemies and for guarding flanks. I wouldn't trust even Yari Cavalry to break most infantry, and Katana Cavalry aren't exactly useful, though it's been awhile since I've played.

Yeah, I don't think yari cav are going to fare well stuck in against katanas. They're going to fare very poorly against any yari or naginata. They'll demolish anything on a horse though, and they can catch anything else on a horse too. The ability to cycle charge the rear of a line is sorta bonus, but hella micro intense. I could never handle more than two cav units on the wings. I always sort of liked katana cavalry, they aren't great no, but they do handle sword infantry and range infantry well stuck in though, so it always helped with lightening the micro some. Even a unit of light cav for assassinating generals and running down broken units is super useful. Horse cav in Warhammer just does not kill things effectively, even if they're running. Best case is they run something all the way off the field once it breaks, but then you used a unit to run off a unit that costs less than yours did, was already beaten, and would probably kill your cav 1v1 if it wasn't.

Micro isn't a problem, as long as I can pause the game. M2TW trained me well on constant micro for cavalry and horse archers. It's more that the yari cavalry lack the obscene oomph M2TW cavalry have - they could just plow through infantry and then charge again amidst their victims to hit a target behind them for maximum carnage, or withdraw for another charge within seconds to do it again. They're good for general assassination, cavalry hunting, missile unit hunting, and so on, but can't be relied upon to annihilate far larger infantry armies.

We're making a fairly good argument, between us, that the relatively limited unit roster of Shogun 2 probably has the best balance.

The strongest and most expensive units being countered by least expensive and most basic units is kinda slick game play wise.

It has decent balance, but some units are never worth it. Guns are usually inferior to bows, and aren't nearly as available. The fire bomb throwers don't have the numbers or range needed to be useful, and the artillery is a waste and is never useful. At sea, the balance is broadly better, though the Nihon Maru arrives too late to matter and her sheer height means her boarding parties have to jump several stories down and faceplant on the deck, where they're killed by the crew.

To me, Yari Wall alone means that armies should be mostly ashigaru, perhaps with some samurai on the flanks. I end up making identical armies for every role because there's little reason to change, at least on Normal (I know, I know) difficulty.

Valiantly defended my coastal land cities as the Pirates vs a massive rush by Miriam in Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri.

The Gaians last stand gave me time to build 2 mindworms in my land cities and relocate them to my two border cities.

A walkthrough pointed out that with a better than 50% gambling ability will allow you to print money for yourself at the casinos by just holding two buttons down, so I did that to the tune of 60,000 caps. It'll will dramatically improve the game to not have to worry about carrying around a ton of loot.

In Fallout 3, I got to Springvale. I decided to peek into the elementary school. Oops.

You're supposed to sneak the basement take out the 3 there by surprise, take the farthest hall to the top of the school, kill the head raider and let the rest come to you one by one.

Six…ty thousand caps? I think you can buy the entire game for that much.

If you can (this is actually a plot point on Fallout2) you should try assassinating somebody by giving them a few super Stimpaks all at once, then letting an hour or two elapse. Mwahahaha!

Something tells me You're not gonna regret it  , just get water chip quick , before mutants overrun most settlements ;) Also unlike Fallout 2 in part 1 You can finish most quests in one location (except maybe a Junktown Jerky Vendor quest and BOS admittance quest).

btw. Devs apparently knew about this casino exploit because in Fallout 2 there's this intelligent talking toaster who is feeling super-alone and have developed self awareness over 200 years of loneliness and can teach the player how to 100% win at slot machines using super-secret code  the price for this secret knowledge is to agree for him to make You a toast though ;) This might be cut content though so Fallout 2 restoration project mod by timeslip might be required

btw. 2 . In Fallout 2 Nothing is pressuring You so You can take Your sweet time and as a bonus You can get a car to blitz throughout the wasteland in style and load tons of loot gear in the trunk. Have I already mentioned how great Fallout 2 is ? xD
