Hey,

I just received a great general. And i am in a fierce war with portugal. But now i don't know whats best to do with him.

1: I got 1 big army of 10 units, shall i join him with them so they all get free upgrades? (Does he stay forever and can i upgrade the units freely till end game?)

1b: If i go for this option is it wisely to put as much units as i can to stack with him? How many units max? And does the warlord give them more chance to win?

2: I just finished heroic eppic in a very productive city. If i let him join i get +2 to all units being build there wich may be better in the long run.

3: Build a military academie, but in wich city?

Either making it a super-specialist or having it establish a Military Academy in the HE city are good uses.

If you attach it to a unit, a) it will only attach to one unit, not a stack, b) it will only apply 20 XP, and those will be split evenly amongst the units in the stack. Because of b), I usually peel off the 4 or 5 most-promoted units in a stack and attach the general to the best of those. Applying it to 10 units will mean each only gets 2 XP, which isn't all that helpful.

Great, thnx :D

I make him join the city for some extra exp. The city with HE will pump out units at an insane speed soon :D.

If you have in mind to attack Portugal and not only to difend yourself you may attach the general only to one unit to gain medic III, in this way your stack of unit will heal completely in 2 or 3 turns. i usually use my first general in this way. I may use your stack also to raid town.

After the patch 3.13 has fixed the bug allowing the building of military academies until you have military science, the choice earlier on is between exp points and adding the Great General to a unit. Making a Super Medic with medic III with the Great General is a pretty good option; it will allow a sustained attack. But as a rule a military academy, once you can build them, is a good option in a production city, since it will increase your output of units, which is pretty important in wartime. Having said all that, it's still a good idea to build up the exp points of units built in a city with HE, just like you've done. Quality units are a very good thing!

Use GG to get a unit with Medic III, it'll be exp. enough to build the HE and Westpoint later. Use second to build academy and then add instructors for super military base.

My rule of thumb is if it's near the beginning of the game make him an instructor or a specialist. If it's near the end attach him to one strong and highly promoted unit (Tank, MA, Etc)
