What's a part of the game you never use or interact with?

As MP is already a prevalent answer here…

Unlocking the second and third religious beliefs. Because they are locked behind in-game events and are absolutely not worth the effort of spreading religion beyond completing the legacy path.

Bonus question: any of you have interacted with player profile/banner customization?

Yeah I messed around with the banner. Not much fun.

Someone mentioned bridges. I never build them either, not in any age. They are worth a lot of gold to pillage though.

Never used more than once:

Squadron commander
Railroad teleportations
Plundering trade routes (all random games haven't rolled as Teach, thus plundering trade routes is so situational)
Plague doctors (i would just wait out the plague and move units)
Spying military commanders (why does this even exist?)

Spying military commanders (why does this even exist?)
Would be pretty good in multiplayer I'd guess.

I'll add another one- walls. I don't build them unless there's absolutely nothing else to do, and in that case I'd probably do science or culture project instead.

In my current game I lost a town, and spent a good percentage of my early age gold buying walls on vulnerable town centers (archipelago map). 600g is a lot when you're making 200gpt. I haven't needed them at all. Back to no walls.

Aircraft - rarely
They’re worth it if you choose to build them, but definitely a little overkill and come very late into the tech tree and therefore the Age. I do actually use them when I can…

…but not for nuking. Never built a nuke in any Civ game- it has never been necessary or worth the effort in my eyes.

I disagree on the religion judgements- it’s actually very strong depending on your beliefs and number of Cities but is just such a repetitive drag with no way to protect your Settlements from reconversion that I still sometimes shy away from it.

Multiplayer and levying units for me as well. I actually like incorporating IPs if their location is good. Saves me a settler and you can easily just wait until the end of an age to gain the benefit if the location isn't imperative. I have been working sanctions more into my gameplay more recently as well but didn't use them much before the patch. Endeavors offer a better value for the influence spent but sanctions do have some value in circumstances, they are just weak.

I actually think I under utilize espionage as I rarely ever use it at all. Most of my influence is spent on IPs and Endeavors as they seem like the most value for cost.

In one of my recent games I built a nuke just to drop one. Had to go pretty far out of my way after my victory to do so.

Add another one for multiplayer - first and last time I tried it was in Civ 5. I did play with the banner a bit, though. It's there on the screen a lot, so I made it look nice.

I try to interact with most of the systems, but I definitely approach Independent Powers and City-States like stat sticks. I try to befriend as many as I can. I will incorporate them if they're in good settle spot, and I want their bonus - or incorporating doesn't feel significantly slower than clearing them out and resettling. Very occassionally, I'll levy their units for scouting or flanking. Beyond that, I have no idea what their buttons do. Influence feels too precious to spend it on those indirect benefits.

I also don't build planes or nukes, anymore. I used to, in my first few games, but now modern combat feels resolved by the time they become available. It's a shame, cause they look decently complex - and the nuking animation is very impressive.

I didn't mentioned parts related to military - ideology, planes, air commanders, etc. because I avoid those things only because I usually play peacefully. When I played for Steam achievement with a large-scale modern war, I used all of them.

I think Sanctions is a whole area that it greatly under utilised. The main reason for that is that it isn't very visible what effect it is having or what the point of it is. There seem to be far better uses for influence and sending a sanction feels completely ineffectual and a waste.

Its an area of the game that has a lot of potential, but is right now pretty lame.

The 2nd and 3rd religious unlocks are so incredibly difficult, especially on large maps, I literally made a thread thinking it was broken.

+1 to Bridges (not worth more than maybe 1, Aerodrome commanders, Nukes

Things I haven't seen:

- Many of the IP bonuses don't make any sense, so I'm selecting the same few every time. They need to balance these better IMO.
- The plague crisis. Again, maybe it's me, but this is fun to somebody? I turn this off every single game.
- Later in the ages if I'm steamrolling, the Taj Mahal or anything that extends the celebration length. Unless I'm misunderstanding this mechanic, every time you enter a new celebration you get a new policy card. I'd rather stack happiness and daisy chain events back to back as much as I can fit in than have 1 go 50% longer.

Yes, that's the problem with this kind of mechanics. Hindering others is not as visible as boosting yourself. Even if it's actually effective, it's hard to grasp.
