What's the deal with The Wheel?

It's on the technology advisor page, yet I can't ever remember having to research it. I notice that several Civilizations have it as a starting technology, but I've never played with those.

Probably because you research it so early and quickly you forget.

I forget about certain techs, I only remember techs I need or hate (scientific method).
 
I unconciouly played as all thoe ones that starts with it for a long time and when I finally played as one that didn't, I was surprised cuz I didn't know it existed!:lol: :lol:
 
When you play on Warlord Level and below, its automatically given to you. Noble and above, you have to research it unless your Civ has that tech free.
 
Also, if you click on Pottery in the F6 screen, it will automatically research Wheel first without telling you, if you don't already have it.

Well... if you play as, for example, Asoka and open up the Science Advisor screen and find yourself to already have The Wheel, do you ever wonder why you have it?
