In terms of conflicting lore, gameplay, alignment, religion, etc., what's the oddest game you've played?

For instance, has anyone here played Elohim, converted to Ashen Veil and pursued conquest? Since you don't have to have it as your national religion, just possess the holy city, is it possible (if insanely difficult) to pursue a religious victory as the Grigori? Have you shot for a cultural victory with the Clan? Converted the Sheiam to a good or neutral religion and built the Altar of Luonnotar?

If you've done anything like this, how has it turned out?

Wait, are you serious? Is that allowed? I've never examined the game mechanics to check it out, but I assumed there was something that made that impossible. I'll be back; I have to look at this.

So it appears that the relevant question is: Are the Infernals allowed to convert away from Ashen Veil? I've never tried it. I've only finished one game with them and I saw no particular advantage in doing so, so didn't consider it. I think I also assumed it was locked, though.

It was probably once I got an imba capital as Sidar with Temple of Completacy and City of a 1000 slums and many settled great people. It was fun to rush through the techtree.

The strangest AI vs AI I have seen was when Luchurip beat Hippus.

building the mercurian gate as hyborem, nothing beats Mercurians+Infernals combo :D

Yup, that's hard to beat!

I've always chuckled at Empyrean Calabim, a bunch of vampires doing sun worship!

It can be good play for the Luchuirp to raise the AC to bring on the apocalypse since golems are immune.

Best wishes,

Breunor

I remember one of the few games I played for this mod was the Bannor. Charadon converted to Order, and the Doviello were the most cultured civ.

As for cultural victory... of course, I won this kind ogf game as a Clan leader :D (Jonas)

Strange combinations... the one I remember well would be Bannors converting to Veil, and at the same game, orcs converting to Order... then, great holy war... Clan summoned Basium. Bannors summoned Hyborem. I was caught in the middle of it as Grigori.

I was playing as the Sheaim, ready to destroy the world... then I got an Acolyte from a lair, founded and converted to Order, and became Good.

I'm surprised you didn't destroy the world anyway. This is Fall From Heaven after all.

Playing as Clan one time, I'd founded Ashen Veil but was waiting before converting (can't remember why; I was planning on summoning Infernals).

AV spreads to the Elohim (AI)... and Ethne converts... then a few turns later she demands I convert to AV. "Yes, milady, right away!!!"

Current game I'm playing has me as Hannah on a team with Ethne, and between the two of us manage to found all the religions to rake in cash hand over fist. Charadon and Auric are on a team, and are at war with us (and a few rebellious Illian factions; playing with the current More Naval AI). Ethne picks off some Doviello invasion forces as I'm drowning high level Warriors and upgrading them to Stygian Guards. I march a pack of 10 of them across the ocean, picking off a couple Doviello warships and then outright capturing two coastal cities.

Auric and Charadon send a stack o' doom my way, hitting me with tsunamis and making it very likely I'll lose my Stygian Guards and Mercenaries I've got in the city, so I let loose the Lanun world spell. Pick off one High Priest of Winter and several Cultists...

The kicker: Raging Seas outright kills Barnaxus, Gilden Silveric and Loki.

This wasn't all that "strange" - but it was exciting:

Elven Pirates. Through circumstances forced up them, the Ljosalfars were sited on a large island and what little mainland they held was along the coasts of two different Pangaea sized continents.

It's a shame the AI doesn't use ships like a human does. And a shame we don't have unique graphics for civilization warships.

I think there's a niche here - in Civilization games, in general - for an AI that handles ships effectively and aggressively.

I've had Sabathiel's Bannor follow the Ashen Viel.

I once saw the Orcs under Sheelba beat the elves to Fellowship of leaves. That's right, an Orc city was the holy city of the fellowship and the elf city was not.

I had AI Alexis of the Calabim attempt a culture victory. She didn't convert to any religion (not even Esus) and was busy hoarding different religions in her cities.

Unfortunately, that game crashed, and I was unable to determine the cause of it. I was playing Basium.

I have seen this more than once. Fellowship of leave is actually pretty often chosen by orc as religion. I also have seen the ember clan of the Order, which is strangely fitting, kind of "let's get out of the decadence of losing Bhaal and return to our traditions".

The strangest thing I have seen is the permanent alliance between the sidar (who have founded the Council of Esus and were following it) and the Elohim (who have founded the Empyrean and were following it).

I also seen a game with an united front for world peace composed of Os Gabella, Jonas, Hannah (who were Ashen Veil), and Alexis. There never DoW anyone, were doing defensive pact left and right and Alexis actually gave me a technologie when I was lagging behind. They were fiercely opposed by the Bannor, Kuriotate, and the two flavor of dwarfs, who were bloodthirsty warmonger that only stopped war against me or amber clan to "internal" fighting between the good leader.

The kicker ? I was playing the Good elven leader.

I just played a game where the Grigori summoned Basium.

'Yes, I assure you, we don't believe in the goodwill of the gods and their angels, they bring nothing but evil. Erebus would be better off without them. What, you're asking what that huge portal is doing behind me then? Oh, it's just a decoration, we're definitely not trying to summon an army of angels or something...'
