Looked through and couldn't find any threads posted... so I was wondering...

When you found a religion, do you use the default or do you rename them? If you rename them, what do you choose and what do you rename them to?

As for me, I haven't played far yet... but I started a couple games with the Romans and when I founded my religion, I chose Tengriism's icon and name my religion "Romanism" (The eagle icon just seems to fit with Rome)

:D

I sometimes use my first name and call my religion claytonism. When I play with my friends in Skype I use Islam and (when I spread my religion) say praise be the silver god Allah since I use the +faith on gold and silver pantheon because I start with silver in my territory

I founded Bacon, which requires that I spread it to every city with truffles.

I usually found religions based on how far they are from the traits I pick for them. For example, my version of Daosim involves large religious centers, cathedrals, and aggressive evangelism, while my Tengrism is based on sea worship (the Eternal Blue Sea!) and trade.

Founded Asatro (Old nordic gods) as Denmark. Though, considering Harald Bluetooth is, in Denmark at least, best known for 'christening' the Danes, perhaps I should've chosen otherwise.

Scientology, just to be the ultimate troll.

Capitalism. Always capitalism. The symbol does not matter.

I was thinking I might select the buddhism icon and found WOTism. :D:D

I choose a religion that fits with my chosen civ:Buddhism with China,Christianity with Spain...
I noticed in some of my games Ethiopia chose Christianity and Arabia chose Islam,is this coincidence or do some civs have favourite religions?

As an atheist, I amuse myself by naming my religion Bullhorsehockyism. :)

As a side comment, what I would have done is give an option to civs to not get involved with religion, and maybe convert faith to science in a ratio of 4:1 or something. It's just and idea I hope nobody gets this the wrong way. For example Shrine which gives +1 faith would give "atheist" civs 0.25 extra science/turn.

edit : on second thought, use of religion system can bring big advantages so probably the ratio above would be much too low for it to be balanced.

^^

Why not just name it Atheism and pretend its not a religion, and your Great Prophets / Missionaries are peeps like Richard Dawkins? :p

Im not offended but I dont like the idea of being able to turn faith into science. You gotta remember there are a lot of faith buildings pre-university. It would give those civs a way to kinda remove religions impact on the early game by breezing you through it

Edit: which I see is what you said in your edit lol
