What's your rent?

Over the summer, it was $425/month x2 people. During the school year? I really, really don't want to think about it. Too damn high.

Me and my little sister split a 1300/mo (so 650 a piece) 2 bedroom in Chicago...I think it's around 900 or so sq feet? It's a little bit higher than I'd like, but it's a very convenient neighborhood for me, and has a dishwasher, so I'm willing to splurge a little. I'm debating getting my own place for my next lease though...she's been out of the house for the past few days, and it's been awfully peaceful around here...

We bought about 18 months ago now.... Mortgage is just about gone too... WOOT!!! :)

EDIT: We've been told we COULD get $550pw for it very easily. It's a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom villa on a block with 3 other villas, built two years ago.. not as large as a full standalone bungalow house, but the kitchen is HUGE, the Master Bedroom is quite large and it has a seperate home entertainment area...

Well my parents spend $2,100 or something for monthly mortgage for a 5 bedroom 2 bathroom house.

EDIT: Jericho, I think anecdotal evidence supplements statistics, and often the latter may be misleading, by for example focusing on flats of certain size or in certain area of town, or not focusing on certain areas of town. I find it more informative to hear a newyorker tell what's his rent and what does he think about it than reading stats about it.

Anecdotal evidence never trumps statistical evidence. I'm an urban economist so I'm quite familiar with hedonic pricing and taking into account a wide assortment of characteristics to figure out comparative rents. It's honestly basic stuff. Your new yorker example falls prey to that by having a very small sample size (1 dude) you don't exactly get a good estimate.

But heyyyy, I just make my living on this stuff, whatta I know?

Apparently reading isn't your forte?

I said "supplements", not "trumps".
I said "tell what's his rent and what does he think about it", not "tells what his rent".

€280 a month plus electricity/internet/TV bills.

Its a semi-detached house 10 minute walk from the city centre.

Mortgage of $1400 a month for a 2200+ sq ft house, 4 bedrooms, 2 full bath, 2 fireplaces in 2 different living rooms, 2 car garage, 1/4 acre lot.

EDIT: Oh, and I forgot to add in I have close to 125k in equity on it already.

A small two-bedroom apartment (for scale, Ive seen closets bigger than our bathroom) for over $600. Yikes. Ive seen one-bedrooms in town for $400.

$735. Used to be $675 a couple years back but they hiked it up a bit. Fortunately it doesn't seem they're gonna hike it a bit higher as it's been $735 for the past couple of years.

$575 water included for a two bedroom attic garage space for two cars and a basement with washer and dryer. It isn't great it might be a little high (thats what people say) but it seems fair to me with water included and the Washer and Dryer. It is pretty rare to find.

None, still living with the folks :(.
