Used internet for a while (since the mid-90s, IIRC), but only got connected at home in October 2000, I think.

Summer 1996
I remeber the moment I got it:D
I had been on a camp and when I got home we celebrated my birthday. I think I didn't really know what was in that box when I opened it. I still have that 28.8k modem somewhere:)

In 93 or 94, when I first went to university. It was in a school computer lab. Also my first experience with computers... :)

In university, 1995 IIRC. I really didn't pick up properly until my home got connected in 2000, though.

I used to go on my uncle's PC all the time (an IBM PC 100 I beleive) those where the days (95 I beleive), a 28.8 modem and a 'top of the line' PC, how times change!

Long after Al Gore invented it

98 or so. I was dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century.

Can you say, 'Mosaic?'

1993 for me, I got one better than that cromagnon

can you say "Gopher" ?

'91, '92. Prodigy, baby! Used it to cheat on my 5th grade homework! I remember how crappy it was. Man, the internet has come a long way. I didn't start making websites until '94.

Not sure when I started, but...

My very first experience with the Internet was probably '89, when my uncle showed us around his dorm at UMCP (University of Maryland College Park). And it was on an Apple ][e! (it was his roommate's computer).

Next, it was Compuserve on my uncle's computer. A simple graphical DOS browser. (all you could view were some news...). I'm not sure when that was. '91?

Highschools had it around '94/'95, which is when I really started using it in full. Although, the only place you could go to was the Missouri State University Catalouge (and my highschool is in Baltimore!). :)

I hope you're kidding!

Oh yeah. I also first experienced the internet in like 1995 or 1996 when my dad took me to his office and let me go on the internet on his computer while he went to teach a class. It was so awesome. :D I wish I could still feel that awe today now that I realise the internet is mostly full of crap and that a minority of its contents are of any worth.

If you know what a "bang path" is, then you can say you're an Internet old-timer. :D

Finding your way to a desired location, before the advent of HTTP.

'Banging' from each stage to the next.

THe sad thing is that up until a few years ago everything on the internet was free, now they want to charge you for even having a mailbox sometimes.
