I gladly admit that it's an unlikely eventuality in foreseeable future even with the numbers downgraded closer to those of basketball & American football given how the rules of the game are implemented but the NASL back in the late 60s, early 70s gave extra points for goals amongst other weird rule changes.
1) Cultural and political similiarities with my countries of origin
2) Moral superiority (if they play more honestly than the other team)
3) One of the them is female
Well, when the MLS first started they had a bunch of ridiculous rules, such as the clock going backwards from 90 to 0, constant stopping of gameplay, no ties and shootouts to decide a winner, etc.. Once they learned from those mistakes, they adopted the standard rules of our beloved sport. so I don't think they are going back to do that.
