...I REALIZED THAT EVEN THOUGH JAPAN HAS PLENTY OF CITIES,I COULDN'T FIND HIROSHIMA AMONG THEM.WHAT A PITY I JUST WANTED TO DROP A NUKE ON HIROSHIMA AND NAGASAKI.

DOES ANYBODY KNOWS HOW CAN I EDIT AT LEAST THE CITY NAMES OF OTHER CIVILIZATIONS BY ANY MEANS -before,after or along the game-?

Odd. I dropped a nuke on Nagasaki in Civ2 a few months ago and then felt like an ass for not thinking about it before I'd done it, but the nuke was actually launched in retaliation for another, and no other targets were in range.

So, the perversity of civ aside, it does seem a little demented to be hunting for true-to-life cities to nuke for their own sake. Kind of like playing Call to Power and hoping to enslave only african units.

But then, I suppose I deliberately send the army out to whack labour leaders in Tropico, and I have been known to enjoy sending my guys in Gangsters 1 out to beat shopkeepers people for protection money, so maybe I'm being a little judgemental.

ditto cruiser, but I do LOVE NUKES, mainly for dropping ALL OVER the other civs right before launching my SS.

This warped thread is why I wish I could turn off the nuclear option. :(

Easy enough. Modify the Manhattan Project with the editor. Remove the attribute that begins the nuclear age. Give it a science bonus or something else instead.

Personally, I don't think nukes need to have an on/off feature. After all, they do play a very important roll in our world. And i think in the game they are quite fun. I was recently playing a game on Warlord, large map, and(to make a long story short) China, who had a nicely sized civ, was at war with all other civs. America, France, Russia, Inida, and i was the romans. I lauched a tac nuke on one of their cities, and in the next turn, the Chinese civ had been turned into a polluted wasteland. Everyone else had launched their entire nuclear arsenals onto china. It was very interesting.

I think my favorite thing to do is play the civ II built in wwII scenario as the turks or spanish with the laser disabled. You play after the end, kissing the Allies @$$ for tech and then, once the manhattan is built you start mass producing nukes. Then, you lauch the nukes all over germany and blitz them. Then, you do it to another civ and blitz them. Since the laser is not an option and you kill them in one turn you never are touched. Just don't let alliances get in the way. This is fun and I reccomend it to everyone:)

Maybe you should read up on what it was really like for the WOMEN and CHILDREN in hiroshima and nagasaki--you know, in real life... No, you're probably just some damn racist--and they were just japs right? F*ck all you people (not aimed at all on this thread) who think human suffering in real life was cool or fun and get sadistic pleasure out of recreating it in your games. Nukes are necessary in a game about human history yes, but the object should be not using them. Again, yes, its just a game, nonetheless, this makes me just as sick as the people who were posting before the game came out about whether or not they could exterminate people--aka recreate the holocaust. Remember that anyone? Those civilians in Japan were just as innocent as the 6 million jews killed by the nazis, just because they were born of a certain parentage didn't make them guilty. But people like this enshrine thier deaths, in real life, with this sort of junk.

Ok calm down buddy. Frankly if you play this game at all you have no right to complain. Have you raized any cities in this game? Have you sent your troops out on missions that you knew they'd die in, just to weaken the enemy? Have you ever wiped a rival civ off of the face of the world in a conquest mode game? But we can also say "Do you know what it was like for the Women and Children in Europe with Napolean? " and "Do you know what it was like for Women and Children in Africa when tribes were commiting genocide against eachother?"

Yes i know that we shouldn't be making fun of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but the fact is nukes are in the Game to be used. If someone wants to use them let them, if someone says they wanted to drop a nuke on Hiroshima sure its dumb to say that and wanting to do that. But do you ever have a craving to whipe out another civ after they have attacked you? i mean we need to realize this is a game, and its better we take out any furstration or anger we have on an AI then on other people.

Also i guess we shouldn't be making any WW2 scenarios eh? Face it, the world is bloody, this is a game that allows us to mimic some of the bloodiest events in the world, or create our own bloody events. So people are going to do that. Are you opposed to games like WW2 Online, or Commandos 1 or 2?

I'm sorry if I came out harsh in this post, but i am PO'd to hell and back with political correctness. If you dont like something, or you find it offensive, then dont look at it and ignore it. Its not like the views of one person in this forum is going to change the domestic policy in a country so they become racist.

And to one of the Mods, could you please lock up this post or move it? It's grosly off topic.

I'm afraid to say this (and I really do hate political correctness as much as anyone) but I would challenge ANYONE to not see the horrific perversity of this statement. I realise that Battal Gazi probably has a bit of maturing to do if he's to understand the full implications of what he posted, but most of all I disagree fervently with the idea of actually ENCOURAGING that kind of attitude.

It's true, the world is bloody and brutal, and some aspects of the game do reflect that - albeit in a lighthearted fashion. However, his attitude here amounts to outright mockery of an actual atrocity in human history. If you don't think I'm being overly idealistic, the game poses you with the OPTION to be brutal or civilised. A world war scenario gives you the chance to "correct" a catastrophic event in history with the least loss of life. Furthermore, the focus with most "wargames" is to hone military efficiency and master the challenge of logistics. A large loss of military or civilian life should be considered a failure in anyone's books.

You might, I suppose, play the game as a bloodthirsty tyrant and cause death to millions. You may accidentally trip across parallels with real life history and shudder to think of the implications. But to actually seek out and try to play out these real life catastrophies for your perverse enjoyment and then joke about it in the forum amounts to a very sick and twisted (or immature/limited) mind.

Political correctness is tiresome and mostly aggravating I agree. However, with some things, you just have to be careful what you say. Do you see people making jokes about the Holocaust? Would you make a WWII mod to the game with concentration camps to actually play out this atrocity? I'm also sorry if you think this post is harsh, but please at the very least consider the full implications of what you say or post in future.
