I just had this close game this was COMPLETELY :):):):)ed over (for me) because every single time one of those crucial "who clicks first" times came up I lost. (i.e. he went first).

What determines this? Pure luck? Ping?

To make clear what I'm talking about: A warrior comes next to the tile of an enemy settler. Obviously the player with the settler wants to move away and the warrior wants to move into the tile with the settler.

Use the keyboard not mouse if you get into a situation like this...just select the unit you want to move start hitting the number that corresponds to where you want to move 1-2 seconds before new turn...amek sure you stop hitting after units moves cause you don't want your other units to move (unless you are playing with unit cycling off).

Idially you never want to be in a situation to have to do that, like speaker said, but it happens, so if it does, spam the numpad like you were trying to up the power bar in a sports game :D

Play minimise popups, quick moves etc in the options. This means you go straight to moves in your turn and deal with the popups later. A quicker way of getting your first moves in.

Ah, the good old "unexperienced in multiplayer dude whines about simultaenous turns" (sorry nox, no insult intended ;) ). I´ve summarized why those are a necessity in multiplayer without being a problem, rather an additional element of skill besides in basically one exception here: about simultaenous turns in civ mp (scroll down to the 2nd paragraph).

Not all games have simultaneous turns, though, right?
