My multiplayer experience is usually just 2 players with the rest AI which might be more fun than single player, sometimes 3 or 4 friends want to play and it feels like a waste of time as I know we'll never continue the save.

I know on launch I'll have a bunch of friends wanting to play and will end up with like 3 different multiplayer saves while all I want to do is play my single player save.... Hopefully I can convince everyone to do a whole single player before we start mp

No poll option for "not until they add hotseat."

I have a regular group of friends I play online with, so whenever we all have a copy the game I suppose. In any case it won’t be until after a single player game. I think Civ is one of those games where it’s more fun after you’ve learnt the basics.

These games are too simple for competitive gaming.
I play alone if there is no complexity or depth.
Also these are the type of game you cannot enjoy with children either.

I haven't played civ multiplayer since III, I think. Maybe I played in IV a few times as well, I don't quite remember. In general, while I played a lot online 20 years ago, I prefer board games in a nice home with some friends sitting around a table nowadays. Spontaneous online matching is convenient, but I consider the quality of experience to be only a fraction of playing at home with friends.

My schedule is usually to complicated and inconsistent to allow for multi-session MP games to be completed in a reasonable time. However, I can see this changing with 7: I might try some single-era games that can be completed in a single not too extended session (~ 2 hours). Hence, I'm grateful for that option (even if I won't use it in SP). I will play some SP games first though, probably quite a few of these tbh. I always preferred MP when I already knew the game quite well, regardless of type of game. Still, I went with "Not sure if I will play MP," as it may happen more frequently, but maybe also just a handful of times.

Whenever they support 8 players from start to end. Otherwise - all great mechanics notwithstanding - I do not see my weekly Civ-crew migrating to Civ7 unfortunately ...

Probably I’ll set up an MP games with the flying pigs after hell freezes over.

if the new diplomacy system is a hit (buff hostile greeting pls:splat:) and not a miss, mp is a must play for me

MP will be my first game. I love doing co-op Teams games.
Co-op team games of Civ6 got me through lockdown.

An MP would be my first game but taking time off for Civ's launch means I will have to wait until others finish working to join in.

In all the years since Civ III, I've played a single game of multiplayer lol

First game. A friend and I are off work on the day after launch. Plan is to play late into the night on launch day, sleep a few hours and then go again. :)
Getting some good LAN vibes here. Cheers dude! haha

On my end, LAN gaming used to be big with me and my buddies. Nowadays though pretty much everybody moved to different places so it's been real hard to get together. Still, I have been trying to get people together for a Civ scrim. The 70 dollar price tag is throwing some people off especially with how there are some banger titles coming out this year. Even then, I'm really hoping that I could get to play Civ with some close friends of mine.

They know me as a Civ maniac haha so I have been trying to persuade them that Civ 7's is a better fit for newer and more pacifistic players; it has a greater focus on diplomacy and new changes to the game helps make snowballs harder to happen. On that note, I'm really looking forward to Civ 7's multiplayer.

I felt that because of the lack of proper diplomatic actions in Civ 6 (besides a lame attempt with World Congress) the best way to win in multiplayer is to be a ruthless expansionist. But now that diplomatic actions are more properly baked in, it actually encourages you to be a decent person and be on good terms with people hahaha. Honestly, out of all the 4X games I think Civ 7's diplomacy is one that I think has a lot of potential in multiplayer. Can't wait to see how well it actually plays out!
