Ive had conflicting answers from people on here and in game about where I should settle the second city. I only play multiplayer so this only pertains to multiplayer strategy. Ive been settling strategically to either block certain ways of passage from the enemy with my 2nd city and not really knowing where to put it i just put it in the way of the enemy most of the time and make a triangle. what does everyone else do?? whats the pros of having a city RIGHT NEXT to your first city I like to have alot of land so i dont do that but i always see people do it am i doing something wrong

If your cities are close together its easier to defend, especially if you're low on units. If you space them out and place them where you want to based off of resources or land locking, well... You get resources, and you can land lock lol.

I always place cities based off of resources.
