anyone else had tobbacco yet near their city?

ive built roads and even have tobbacco within my boarders and it does not show up as a luxury in my cities. anyone else have this problem?

Having tobacco in your cities should make some citizens happy. And they should die after a couple of turns. :crazyeye:

And then, if for some reason the connection is cut, half your population becomes unhappy, and consume twice as much food!

Lots of new bonus resources were added that seemed to have been intended as luxuries, then they probably realized that marketplaces made it so it was TOO easy to keep everyone happy. I think they had a total of 11 lux at one time.

If that is the case, I think they should have just halved the marketplace happiness-multiplyers.

Of course, you can change bonus res to lux res in the Editor. :D
Unfortunately, marketplace effects are an all-or-nothing thingy; you don't have control over how it is done. :(

The problem with too many luxuries lies chiefly in how many other civs you play with... Or as I've observed anyway. Luxuries are distributed in accordance with civ locations.. that is, a number of luxuries are given to a continent based in part on the civs located there.. On a small continent with 1 civ, you'll find one luxury, while on a big continent with 5 civs, you might find as many as 5 different luxuries. And of course, you may see a continent of 5 or 6 civs fighting over fewer luxuries than the civ count.

I've found that problem with modding in new luxuries to the game(making it too easy to increase the happiness of your citizens early on) is partially alleviated by simply adding more enemy civs to the games you play. With more luxuries available, you need more civs there to fight over them.

What I'm wondering though, is if in the new expansion, it has support for more than 8 luxuries, that is, will a 9th luxury bestow happiness effects and possibly produce a massive 5 happiness with the existence of a marketplace? Or has having more than 8 luxuries actually increased happiness in the current version of the game, but the city screen simply fails to display it because of physical size constraints in the luxury window?
