Deep theological arguement.

postulate 1:
Chickens are evolved from dinosaurs
Dinosaurs laid eggs
Eggs came first

postulate 2:
God created birds on the 5th day
Chickens came first

I concur with postulate #1 but invite others to vote and post their reasons. Footnotes appreciated. So which came first and why?

Well I read somewhere that scientists found that the gene for laying eggs was younger than some other gene, which meant that the first birds gave birth to live young. So the chicken.

Single Celled organisms came first, then evolved into egg laying creatures.

I'm sorry, but lol at your example. Shows how stupid the whole concept of earth creationism is.

Eggs came first as animals laid eggs before chickens were evolved.

a) Maybe the first chickens gave live young and then some had a mutant to lay eggs.
b) Maybe another animal laid an egg and a chicken hatched from it.

Those are very simplifed.

1) So on the evolutionary chain of the Modern chicken and it's ancestors, it somehow lost the ability to lay eggs, and then reacquired it fairly recently?
2) This isn't Pokemon.

Wait. What? Dinosaurs are thought to be the ancestors of modern, and paleontologists have found fossilized dino eggs.

It takes two chickens (hen and rooster) to make a fertile egg. Two eggs would leave the two chickens uncared for so they die. Chickens win.

It comes down to the definitions of "chicken" and "egg".

It is simplest to assume that "chicken" refers to the egg laying bird we all know and eat today.
However "egg" could be a chicken egg, i.e. an egg with a chicken in it; or a chicken's egg, i.e. an egg laid by a chicken.

According to the great mystical alphabetick force... chicken.
A
B
Chicken
D
Egg

Answer: Chicken.

Well what laid the egg? Did a dino lay an egg, and a chicken came out?
