I now have enough feedback from my initial post to include a poll. Of the many Civ IV features that Civ V left out, which one do you miss the most?

The Civ 4 soundtrack was great in mid-game, with medieval and symphony music. The modern music was torture though, and the royalty costs burdened the game's retail price.

Local happiness. The universal happy thing just feels weird.

Another thing I really miss is a combination of several options: Civ5 lacks the joy of unlocking techs. With the exception of a few key ones, most of which are in the early part of the game, the techs just gives access to buildings/wonders I don't want to build.

I miss several advanced game options that have been removed. (turn off friendly animations, permanent war, etc.)

I agree. The removal of those options, including several map scripts, seems a little odd.

More risk/reward tradeoffs. In civ5 there are too few risks and too many rewards.

One word: Baba yetu. ;)
